Subject: Adding Anti-Spin? IP: Logged
Message: I have an '03 QC that is loaded except for two things, leather and it does NOT have the anti-spin rear end. I hate leather so that's not a problem, the limited slip is. Since I wanted an 03 and they were becoming slim pickins I had to take this one which is fine except for not having limited slip, or "anti-spin".
Is it possible (easily that is) to swap my rear end out for one with a locker? Is this something that the dealer could do? Anyone know what I should expect to pay? It's an automatic with the 4.7L and 3.55 gears. Any help is appreciated.

Message: Any diff shop should be able to do that for you, should cost about $400 or so.
I just can't understand why they make so many 4x4 trucks without LSD. Just doesn't make sense if all you think about is function. But I guess if you think about all the clueless soccer moms who just have to have a 4x4 to get to the ShopCo, it makes sense. Sorry you got stuck with one built for them. Good thing it's easy to fix.
While it's apart, have the shop replace the bearings with some quality Torringtons. The DC parts are well known for early failure.

Message: Thanks for the input. Yeah, I agree, it makes no sense why my 4x4 didn't have it. I had found one that had it but didn't come with the infinity speakers and overhead convenience group and I really wanted both of them. Figured it'd be easier to do the anti-spin later, which thanks to your info it appears is correct. Thanks a lot guys..

Message: The price for my carrier was just over $200. Bearings, gaskets, and fluids cost about $60. It was $150 to install it. That didn't include the new gears. I went from 3.55 to 3.92.
