Message: i'm looking to buy a new vehicle. i've been in love with the dakota ever since i saw it. i've driven a 5.9L V8 durango so i have a feel for the cab of the truck. i love sitting up high and feeling powerful in a truck. but the gas mileage is absolutey horrible in dakotas. even with the V6. i've been considering a mini cooper, or even an rx7 or supra as well. i want to be different too. no one has a mini, and i rarely see rx7s or supras. if i got a dak i'd want to lift it so it'd be more unique, but then the gas comes into play there too. lifting doesn't help that. i've done my research but can't come to a conclusion. can anyone give me advice on any of this?

Message: buy a ram. it is harder to lift a dak. do not buy a foreign car. it supports their economy and they suck. mini's are for women. rx7's and supras are for wiggers who think they can race. buy a great american truck, although daks seem to have a lot of problems. gas mileage is not bad i can get 340 mpg to a tank, if i drive slow. get a 5.2 liter.

Message: A Dak should get a little better milage than a Durango, I don't understand why you think the milage is "absolutely hoorible". My second car was a '73 Olds Cutlas S with a 350 and got 12 mpg. My 4.7 Dak weighs more but gets better milage, and makes more power with a smaller engine. What's so horrible about that ?

Message: My 4.7 Dakota gets about 20mpg on the highway at 70. Overall about 17mpg. Thats not that bad considering the power you get, and what you can do with a truck.

Message: Dodge is owned by DC which is a German company so if you buy a Dodge you are supporting the German economy.
Buy a Ford or a GM truck a nd support the US economy. Oh, except the F150 is built in Oakville and the Sierra is built in Oshawa.
LOL looks like no matter what you do you're fukt.LOL.

Message: Kowalski, more power with a smaller engine is in no way horrible. i was saying that the people on this site who get 12 mpg is horrible, and it is. do you argue with that? i'm used to 33 mpg in my probe. that's obviously not what i was expecting in a truck, but going to almost a third of that seems ridiculous to me.

If you want to buy a car made in America, then buy a BMW, Honda, Subaru, Toyota, etc.

Message: Pedigree vehicles went out the window years ago. I had a '85 Dodge minivan with French Citroen half shafts and German Bosch wiper motors. The Hemi is made in Mexico. Check the USA content on any new Accord, Camry or Sentra nowadays. Call it "bending the rules", but Toyota pickups have so much USA content now that they will be allowed in NASCAR next year. Anyway, get a 4.7 RC 5-spd 3:92 Sport Plus, get 19 mpg and all the fun you can handle.

You don't need advice, you just need to make up your mind, which do you want more - "sitting up high and feeling powerful", or fuel economy?

Message: ANy foreign owned company is taking money from you in the form of taxes. American owned companies pay twice the tax to the government, you know those same taxes that support schools, roads, national parks, your way of life. Foreign cars that are "built, or should I say assembled" in the USA still pay less money to the US government becasue they are foreign owned, and therefore give out less money to your way of life. In my opinion they should be paying more, not getting a break because their headquarters is in Osaka, or the Rhineland. Keep in mind most of the riceburner cars you are buying are only assembled in the US, the parts and all the machining jobs and foundry work that would normal happen in the US is happening overseas. Thousands of jobs are lost before the car even hits the assembly line. F*** foreign cars and those who buy them.

Message: Have you been asleep for the past 30 years, or are you still pissed off over WWII, Korea, and Vietnam? If the American manufacturers weren't still trying to force JUNK down our throats year after year, we wouldn't have reason to even consider buying foreign vehicles. Foreign manufacturers have proven that quality vehicles can be built in the US by US workers, who might otherwise be working at Wal-Mart, but the BIG 3 have yet to catch on. Some years ago, I used to get a kick out of the "Buy a foreign car, put 10 Americans out of work" bumper stickers. I put a sticker on my Toyota that said, "Buy an American car, give 10 mechanics a job". But, I salute your determination and your loyalty, enjoy your service department visits while I'm enjoying the Grand Canyon, on vacation in my foreign vehicle.
