I have a 1990 Dodge B350 Van with a 318, and Its only got 52000 miles on it, and I had the transmission flushed yesterday, drove 120 miles, and ended up stuck on the side of the highway. When I looked, there was no fluid on the dip stick. So I called up the place that did it and got towed, and they looked into it this morning while I was at the garage with them, and it was full with transmission fluid, but it wouldnt engage into gear. So they reflushed it, and the same problem still occurs.

The guy tells me that its either pump and I need a new transmission, or the filter just fell into the pan.

So... The transmission was fine, didnt have a problem when I brought it in for the flush, and not its dead. What's up with that?

Sounds to me you need to have it towed to another shop.......pay the money for a second opinion from someone you can trust and if the first shop is at fault........stick it to them.
There isn't much that pisses me off more than a shop that dosen't seem to know there butt from a tree and can't pinpoint a problem. If you have a problem you find out the cause.....come up with a fix.....and if it is your fault....take the blame.....eat the loss!!! I have built a very reliable, loyal customer base simply by beeing honest and treating every customer as if they were my only employer!!!
Every customer is my boss!!!! I am there to help them with their problems, work for them and make money.
Force the shop to make things right!!

I think I know your problem. I have been working extensively on my Dakota R/T 46RE tranny and the first time I removed the tranny pan to rebuild the Valve Body I noticed small metal shavings at the bottom of the pan. These shavings are normal and are caused by the shift rod constantly moving back and forth within the Valve Body. Anyway during a tranny flush the shop more than likely used a pressure system to remove all the fluid from the system. Unfortunately this pressure forces much of the old metal shaving contaminated fluid through the Valve Body at a very high pressure. Within the Valve Body are many small tight channels which can easily become blocked as the shavings pass through.
With these channels blocked your truck will either shift erratically, or not at all. I agree with Snapwrench get a second opinion from a qualified transmission shop, should only cost you a few bucks to have them just take a look.
If you have the time and feel comfortable working on your own truck jack it up take of the tranny pan (a messy job have a drain pan ready) you will see the Valve Body. Hear is a link to the installation of the TransGo shift kit, if you follow the first few directions it will guide you in how to remove and clean the Valve Body of debris. Hope this helps.

I have an 03 dakota about to hit 100,000 miles. I have not yet changed the tranny fluid since I bought it new in 03. I need to know what to do so I can do it at home.
