I have owned 3 dodges, 97 RAM 5.9, 99 Dakota 5.9 and now 03 Dakota 4.7. All I have to say is that my experience with the 360 was horrible, that motor is the biggest piece of sh!t that I ever had. I thought I just got a bad motor on my 97 but found out with my 99 that there all alike. I modded my 99 and spent over $4000 and it still sucked. I just bought an 03 4.7 dakota CC, I have krc 206 cams, ho intake, ported 68mm TB, and true duals, all I have to say is, WOW. I have spent less than $1000 and this truck would kill my 99. 4.7 Rules, Death to the 5.9. Unless you want to spend a ton of money on a 408 gas guzzler than I would stick with the 4.7. 5.7 and 4.7 are the future.

The 5.9 does not suck. It will always be a great engine to build up especially in older non emmison vehicles.
On the other hand, it's nice that Dodge came out with something NEW and that does NOT suck either!
I too think my 4.7 kicks ass!
But I wouldn't go as far as to say the 5.9 sucks. Hell, it came out over 30 years ago!

Exactly. These are both good motors, guys. While I love my 4.7 the older 5.9 design reflects solid engineering; with a long rod ratio that is easier on the cylinder walls than other manufacturers designs.
