 Subject: Shopping for NV244HD Dakota

I have read some older threads in this fine forum, and decided I want to buy a Dakota equipped with the NV244HD and 4.7 litre.
Question 1: What years was this combination available?
Question 2: If I was calling a seller who didn't know much about their drivetrain, what would be the easiest way for them to determine whether they had an NV244 or an NV233?
(I see nothing in the VIN that would identify the t-case.)

Can anyone refer me to some web sites that contain specifications of the Dakota? Weights, options-available-per-year, that sort of thing.
Also, was the 4.7 + NV244HD combo ever available with a manual transmission?

The NV244 transfer case is the All Wheel Drive transfer case, not capable of 2wd operation. This, any owner should be able to answer about their own Dakota. Their selector will have only AWD, Neutral, 4 HI and 4 LOW.
As far as the rest of your questions, not sure.
