Subject: Bomb in transfercase?
IP: Logged

Message:
I dont really know what happend, but as i was going down the road last night my transfer case decided it was time to explode taking my drive shaft with it. When I say explode you guys are probably thinking i just mean fell appart, but NO it actually looks like someone set a bomb off in the transfer case. There are bent pieces of metal and stuff everywhere. What it looks like to me is that the driveshaft came loose somehow and bound the transfer case which made it blow. Thats what this post is for though, have any of you seen anything like this???? I sure havnt.

BTW i was NOT in 4 wheel, and my truck is an 02 with the 4.7, 3.92 gear, auto, with flowmaster's and a K&N

lacent,

Sorry to hear about your problem.

Read this thread.

My transfer case blew with fairly low miles on it, too.

By the way, did the CV boot fail on the drive shaft as it enters the transfer case? It probably was the cause of my case failing. Good luck.
