my dakota - 2000 RC 2.5l stickshift. No mods except cold-air intake.
his dakota - 2003 RC 3.9l auto 2x4 SXT No mods at all
I was by myself in my truck w/ a/c off. He had an extra passenger that weighs now more than 140 lbs and had a/c on max. I beat him on every sprint we got and on our longest b4 hitting a light, traffic, or stop sign we got up to abotu 60mph and at that point i was almost 2 car lenghts ahead of him.

Nice Job. I think I can take one without his airconditioning on and me having an extra passenger. But I have a few more mods. I can take my friends V6 S-10, and another friends older 350 Chevy. But I think the 350 has some carb issues. Seems to be running rich.

What makes you think that thats bull? I have MSD6AL, Flowmaster 40 series, Cold Air Intake, Aceel Spiral Core wires, 180 themostat, and Just recently the Jet StageII. I don't know where that puts me but I don't lie. I already said that the 350 was obviously having problems.

That sounds very reasonable to me. A chevy 350 doesnt mean its a high horsepower engine. And air conditioning make a huge difference.

The answer if in the special thermostat... adds 18 HP.

I had a 1998 rc. 2.5 5spd, with 4.11 gears, and true duals and cold air intake and i raced a ford ranger with a 3.0 v6 with 5spd up a hill to 80mph, and I beat him by about a car length. I had passenger (175lbs) and he had no one. The guy was very surprised, but he said that he might have something wrong with his injectors or something... anyways thats my 2.5 story, now i own a 4.7 thank god.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you fell better. But I don't think that the 2.5L OR the 3.9L is anything to be proud about. However I think that when I put my time into doing somthing different, like trying to start with just about nothing, and make somthing that can keep up with the V8's. I will have completed a whole lot more than starting with 300hp and talking smack.
