Subject: my front bumper is low IP: Logged
Message: I was looking at pics I took of my truck the other day and I realized my bumper is low. There is a 1" gap between the bumper and lights.. The previous owner of my truck had a wreck in it and so I figured whoever fixed it either put the brackets low, or I thought maybe there was supposed to be spacers on the vertical bolts. I called around diff. dodge service centers and auto stores, but no one knew anything. So I figured I'd add some spacers myself to bring it up an inch....so I bought some longer bolts and some plastic cylinders that are 1" for some spacing.. well....after fighting the old bolts I looled over and realized that the bumper is spot welded to some extensions that go to the frame...........
Well, sorry that was long, but I really want some help on this if anyone has any advice. To see pictures of my truck and to see what I am talking about, look at:
http://www.cardomain.com/id/red99daksport - look at pics of the front to see............
Thanks alot guys

Message: The actual tubular frame itself should have two elongated holes at the ends where you can loosen them up and raise and lower the bumper as you see fit. Then just tighten them back when you have it where you want it. You may have to remove parts of the splash guards that connect the cross member to the bumper and radiator support to gain access to that part of the frame. The bolts should be like 18mm I believe.

Message: So the actual adjusting place for the bumper isn't actually around the bumper area but close to the frame? If I am understanding you correctly, than the job may be easier than I thought. I hope I am understanding you correctly, and I will go look when I wake up. Thanks alot

Message: Ok....so I went back out there and looked at my truck again and realized they have the bracket coming directly out of the frame is on the inside...it needs to be on the outside so it can move upwards.... but that is only around the middle of the bumper...on the outer sides I don't see any elongated holes that I can use to adjust the bracket....and can't find anyother way it can be adjusted up...
If anyone can get some pics of the innerparts of their bumper (like with all the brackets that attach to the frame and all) I would be appreciated.. Thanks
