 Subject: Where can I get a Y-pipe

I need to replace the y-pipe on my '92 extended cab with the 5.2. I called the dealer and they don't have it and can't get it. Tried various parts stores (NAPA, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto parts, etc.) with no luck... Does anyone know where I can get one?

Try a muffler shop. They have the tools, and the pipe to make one from scratch.

I know JBA makes one for the 96 5.2 so i wonder if it would work on a 92 i sell them for 160 shipped

no, i think the 92/93 used a larger pipe than the 93-96s

The muffler shop was the one that told me to get it from the dealer. Not sure if they realized it was so hard to get. Guess I can try to get a used one from a boneyard. I was hoping for a new one since I'll be bringing it back to the muffler shop to put on.

ARe you looking for the entire piece from the end of the manifolds to the cat? Are you just looking for where they join?
I believe flowmaster makes the spot where they join together. I'm not sure on the price.
If you are looking for the whole deal, you may want to look for some headers. The price of parts plus fabrication and labor may be close to a set of Thorleys...

I just went through this...had my exhaust completely redone. The y-pipe is DICONTINUED from Dodge,i called the last dealer in VA who had one in their old inventory,found out they had scrapped it 1 month prior. My muffler shop was able to call their source and order the y-pipe specifically for my truck.It fit with no problem.try another muffler shop, they should have a source for that.You won't find it at a regular parts store. I think I paid around $125 for the y-pipe (part only)

92Dakota4x4, thanks for the info and suggestion. Was that a local shop or one of the larger chains (Midas, Monroe, etc.) that was able to get it?
I gotta say after 154,000 miles this y-pipe problem has given me the most grief.

It was a local "Muffler man" shop. I would go back there but they knocked down the strip center where it was at, and I don't know where they moved to....
