Message: Just bought 2003 SLT quad 4x4 V8. I was wondering about getting an after market undercoating(professionally done) --the black rubberized/tar stuff. I live in Ontario where they use lots of salt on roads..thanks EH!

Message: Don't have it done unless a)you've got money to burn or b)you'll have deep psychological issues like lack of sleep worrying about it if you don't have it done. Spend the money on other items such as lights or in the sound system.

Message:
Eight cans of the Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector (product code AMH) will do a much better job because it will not harden and crack like the asphalt based undercoatings.

Message: I live in Calgary and I share your concerns about salt, although they use a lot more in eastern Canada. I just had them apply the Mastershield product at the dealer. I've had it before and I like it. A cheaper alternative is Ziebart, which I've seen work very well. I wouldn't let anyone drill holes to apply the proofing. They shouldn't need to and I've seen cars rust around those holes.
