Vic,

Independent Amsoil Dealers are located across the country -- in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, and New Zealand. Some Amsoil Dealers advertise in the Yellow Pages and some do not. Finding it in a store is not easy since Amsoil has no interest in competing for the "big-box" shelf space (i.e. Walmart), but specialty "Performance" stores are a good place to start your search.

Amsoil is usually purchased through an Independent Amsoil Dealer (via catalog or their website) but if you want to find it on-the-shelf in your area ... one way is to check the Yellow Pages under automotive lubrication and/or oil. Word-Of-Mouth at a local track may also help you find Amsoil Products in a local store.

If you can't find it locally, I would appreciate the opportunity to be your Amsoil Dealer and help you in every way possible. Support an advertiser (me) that supports and advertises on one of your favorite sites ... www.DodgeDakotas.com ?

The benefits of ordering via catalog ... you can become a preferred customer and save between 20% and 25% across the board on all retail prices ... basically buying at the same wholesale prices as an Amsoil Dealer.

Thank You,

Amsoil Wholesale and Race Sponsorship - NASCAR
IP: Logged

Message:

Carl

Fan = YES
Owner = No
Driver = I have driven a couple of the Legend Cars. They are awesome and fast as you know what!

--------------------------------------------------

I get many questions regarding, "Why don't I see Amsoil as a NASCAR SPonsor or at least a race car sponsor?

Let me start by saying that Amsoil is building their racing programs from the bottom up. Up until the early 80's, Amsoil did act as "Corporate Sponsor" for race cars. Since the early 1980's, Amsoil did not "Corporate Sponsor" any racing events, but began to do so again three years ago.

Until recently, Amsoil had only been working with their Dealers on co-op sponsorships that they could take advantage of locally. Now, Amsoil is focusing on specialty markets first (Snowmobiling, Motorcycling, Power Boating, Jet-Skis, FourWheel, Off-Road, etc.). Amsoil is trying to get in and be as dominant in each market as they can, by being the primary sponsor of a "top racer", or promoting a racing series.
----------

NOTE: To be the primary sponsor of one of the top cars in the NHRA will cost several million dollars. For NASCAR the figure is 15-18 million dollars ($15,000,000 to $18,000,000, *** This figure is a couple of years old and I think the dollar amount is higher now.)

----------

Amsoil constantly evaluates contingency programs, but have not made a strategic decision regarding as to what markets would actually produce value.

Amsoil has a full time race director now, John Schuldt, and in the coming year or two they are planning on continuing to expand their racing efforts. Where that expansion of Amsoil's efforts will focus on remains to be determined. Amsoil will slowly grow it in the areas that produce results.

Participating in racing makes one feel good, but the trick is to make it pay off with increased sales. Amsoil could offer free oil and a lot of money for maximum exposure in racing, but it would not necessarily translate into a surefire way to increase sales. Amsoil is confident that they now have the distribution programs that can take advantage of a very carefully orchestrated racing program, and will proceed to make that happen.
----------

Look for Amsoil Corporate Sponsorships at the following events:

Supercross Racing, Motocross Racing, Snocross Racing, Powerboat Racing, Motorcycle Racing, Dirt, Track Racing, Off-Road Racing, Jet Ski Racing, Monster Truck Events

Well,

Now that you asked, I can't say that I know for sure. I do know for a FACT ... Cale Yarborough Motorsports, the NASCAR team spearheaded by the legendary racer, uses AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil to qualify. I saw it first hand in 1996. Now I'm married and don't go to the tracks often.

RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA – Ray Teegarden is Vice President of Sales for the largest retailer and distributor of racing gasoline in the West. Ray tells us that Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30 Motor Oil in particular has become a favorite in the racing world for its ability to boost horsepower without sacrificing engine protection.

Owner Gene Monaco and Driver Kevin Richards are using AMSOIL Series 2000 0W-30 and 20W-50 in their NASCAR Southwest Tour race car. The Chevrolet 358 c.i. engine has a 9:1 compression and holds 18 quarts of oil in the dry sump pump system. They alternate with Series 2000 0W-30 most of the time along with 20W-50 for more extreme engine protection.

"It's common for drivers to qualify their cars for races with low viscosity oils because low viscosity oils give the most horsepower,"

"Most drivers use a higher viscosity oil during races for better engine protection in grueling conditions. Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic 0W-30, a power-promoting low viscosity oil, has proven so effective against engine wear, racers use it in races as well as in qualifying heats. That level of engine protection is unique to Series 2000."

"AMSOIL Series 2000 products are the biggest revolution in racing in the past 15 years. In fact, this oil protects so well, some drivers continue using it after a race. "We've been able to run the Amsoil Series 2000 for three consecutive races instead of changing oil after every race," said Monaco.

With serious racers on the NASCAR circuit using AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic Motor Oil, and top engine builders around the country recommending it for the engines, the word is really getting out.

... and I will close with this little story:

Corvette Fever magazine
Subject: Article in Corvette Fever magazine 9/99

AMSOIL Boosts Horsepower

AMSOIL synthetic motor oils increase horsepower and torque, and that fact’s been made public by Corvette Fever. The September issues features a five-step program to boost the horsepower of the C5 Corvette by 40 HP. “Step four,” writes Corvette Fever, “involves a simple oil change. The Vinci Hi Performance dyno shows several free horsepower by using AMSOIL Series 2000 synthetic lubricant.” The magazine pictures Series 2000 Synthetic 20W-50 Racing Oil, the AMSOIL SDF Oil Filter and AMSOIL Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid.

Vinci Hi-Performance, has been modifying performance cars for over 30 years. Vinci Hi-Performance specializes in late model Corvettes, Camaros, Trans-Ams, Suburbans and Vipers.

No Matter what type of vehicle VHP performs modifications on, or what type of performance package they install, every performance package receives one group of basic ingredients: AMSOIL Series 2000 Motor Oil, AMSOIL Transmission Fluid and Gear Lube, AMSOIL Super Duty Oil Filter and 2-Stage Air Filter.

Roger Vinci was a Valvoline dealer using their DuraBlend Motor Oil. Roger has always recognized the advantages of using synthetic oil in racing but always believed that synthetic oil leaked or contributed to a loss of oil pressure. The only way he would consider becoming an AMSOIL account was to prove it to himself by installing AMSOIL in his personal Corvette and running the car on the dynamometer. He installed Series 2000 0W-30 in his personal ZR-1 Corvette.

After switching to AMSOIL Series 2000 0W-30 and a Super Duty Oil Filter, he immediately noticed the piston slap noise was cut in half and the lifter noise was 100 percent gone. He was also very surprised by the lower oil temperature and an increase in oil pressure!

The ZR-1 was then put on the Dyno. The results: A three horse power gain over the Valvoline DuraBlend, plus another eight horsepower by switching the K&N Air Filter out for an AMSOIL 2-Stage Air Filter. That’s an extra eleven horsepower!

moparmuscle,

I am so tired of hearing that argument!!!!!

You will never see Redline, Royal Purple, or AMSOIL as official sponsors of NASCAR. These nitche synthetic oil and and filter companies are making the FINEST oils and filters for those customers that are willing to pay slightly more for the VERY BEST!

Do you drive a FORD TRUCK?

Do you drive a FORD TRUCK?

Do you drive a FORD TRUCK?

FORD TRUCKS is the official TRUCK Sponsor of NASCAR. Do you drive a FORD or a DODGE DAKOTA? If you believe your own argument you would only drive a FORD TRUCK !!!!!

Also, just because Mobil1 is the official sponsor does not mean that it is the best, that it is in every engine, or that the owners, drivers, or pit crews think it is the best and use it in their cars and trucks at home. It just means that EXXON/Mobil is paying for the right to say they are one official sponsor.

Winston Cup ...... Were Winstons smoked by every team?
Nextel Cup ....... Do the teams only use Nextel phones?

IF YOU BELIEVE YOUR OWN ARGUMENT YOU SHOULD ONLY USE THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS:

Official Sponsors of NASCAR:

America Online (Official Partner), Aplus (Official Pit Stop), AutoZone (Official Series Sponsor, Elite Division), Best Western (Official Hotel of NASCAR), Budweiser (Official Beer), Busch Beer (Official Series Sponsor), Chevrolet (Monte Carlo) (Official Pace Car), Coca Cola (Official Soft Drink), Craftsman (Official Tools, Official Series Sponsor), Dasani (Official Water), Daytona USA (Official Attraction), Dodge (Official Series Sponsor), Dodge Intrepid Official Passenger Car), Domino's (Official Pizza Delivery), DuPont Automotive (Official Finish), Duracell (Official Alkaline Battery), Eastman Kodak (Official Film & Single Use Camera), EXIDE (Official Battery), Featherlite - Vantare (Official Trailers & Luxury Coaches), Ford Trucks (Official Truck of NASCAR), POWERADE (Official Sports Beverage), Gillette (Official Shaving Products), Goody's (Official Pain Reliever), Goodyear (Official Tire Supplier), The Home Depot (Official Home Improvement Warehouse), International Truck & Engine Co. (Official Industrial Tractor - Semi's), Kellogg's (Official Cereals), McDonald's (Official Drive-thru), Minute Maid (Official Juice), Mobil 1 (Official Lubricant), Nextel (Official Series Sponsor), Oral B (Official Oral Care Products), Raybestos (Official Brakes), Sunoco (Official Fuel), Toyota (Official Partner/Manufacturer), UPS (Official Delivery Service), U.S. Army (Official Partner), Visa (Official Card), XM Satellite Radio (Exclusive Satellite Radio Service).

Promotional Partners

Cintas, Combos, Country Crock, DuPont, Tyvek, Glidden, Hellmann's, Husqvarna, Jack Links Beef Jerky, Just Born, MeadWestvaco, M&M's, Nabisco, Old Spice, Outback Steakhouse, Planters, Racing Radios, Ragu, Solo, Tide, USG (Official Building Products Supplier), Waste Management

IF YOU BELIEVE YOUR OWN ARGUMENT YOU SHOULD ONLY USE THE ABOVE PRODUCTS.

By the way, AMSOIL should be your choice for Dakota. It is certainly my choice and has been for well over 10 years!!!

First,

Thanks Don. I do not have to defend Amsoil. Amsoil is recognized as one of the TOP Synthetic Motor Oils in the World. Amsoil spares no expense when it comes to additives, selecting the most robust additive packages on the market. These additives keep AMSOIL motor oils shear stable, resist the degrading effects of varnish and sludge, keep engine components clean and deposit-free and effectively resist rust, corrosion and foaming.
__________________________________________________

Mobil1 is a FINE PRODUCT ... I would simply like to point out their misleading advertisment slogan ... "Nothing Outperforms Mobil1". I can think of three or four synthetic oils that outperform Mobil1. To name a few ... Shell Rotella is excellent, Mobil Delvac 1 is excellent, Schaeffer's is excellent, ... and the new Mobil1 formula is better than the old but still needs improvement.

Mobil1 is a very good oil, however in some engines it does not do very well because of it's thinner nature. In those engines a different synthetic would show better wear numbers. While I do think Mobil1 is too thin for some engines, it can be thickend up by adding a qt. of 15w-50. I think for high performance vehicles, Amsoil has more to offer, and isn't your Dakota a PERFORMANCE TRUCK?

If you want to keep your truck for a long time (150k - 300k miles on your engine), you want to pick the synthetic that shows you the lowest engine wear, and in many cases, Mobil1 is just too thin for certain engines to show their best wear results.

Using Amsoil, you MAY notice: an increase in engine performance, better MPG and engine smoothness, longer engine life, ... AND you will help "Save The Environment" by using less oil with extended (longer) oil change intervals.
__________________________________________________

Price Differences between Amsoil and Mobil1

To save money buying Amsoil, you can become a preferred customer and buy Amsoil at wholesale prices. I can offer some advice to save even more money ... "Pool" your orders with friends and family (like I do) to make it more cost effective.

AMSOIL Races Against Drugs

AMSOIL is the proud sponsor of Race Against Drugs, a program developed by American Motorsports to assist with drug education in America. Race Against Drugs travels nationwide to inform children about the marvels of drug abuse. Race Against Drugs appears at race tracks (NASCAR, CART, IRL, APBA and others), community events (schools, shopping malls, parades and drug prevention rallies), trade shows (PRI, Circle Track and SEMA) and conferences (International Association of Chiefs of Police, Executive Offices Weed & Seed and the National Prevention Network).

Scott Steger, the deputy director of the organizations writes:

“On behalf of all of us at Race Against Drugs, I would like to thank AMSOIL for the support. I am sure you are constantly complimented on the superiority of your products in racing, passenger and fleet use situations. In the past year, we at RAD have logged over 450,000 miles in our towing vehicles using your products to lubricate engines, transmissions, rear ends and more. Not one of our trucks has suffered down time due in part to your fine products and your willingness to assist with the program."

"When we travel we are constantly asked about AMSOIL and why we choose to use your product instead of others. The answer is simple: superior quality, reliability, technical support, and your company’s commitment to preventing our young people from becoming involved in drug abuse."

Amsoil SDF Oil Filters - Filtration & Flow
IP: Logged

Message:

Eddie,

YOU NEED A BALANCE BETWEEN --- FILTRATION and FLOW

FILTRATION

It seems that engine wear gets worse when there are particles above 5 micron particles not being filtered out of the system. GM has done studies where the wear became very great at around 30 microns. On the flip-side, Mobil did tests in 1995 where they ran a number of vehicles at 7.5K oil changes and 15K oil changes on filters that would have been in the 25 micron range. The vehicles went 200K with very little wear. So it would seem that filters that grab most of the 15-20 micron particles whould be OK. I know this is not very scientific.

It really depends on the clearances in your engine. An engine such as my neighbors LT1, which is a small block Chevy as far as the bottom end is concerned, has large clearances so a 20 micron particle won't harm it as much as it would on a much tighter engine such as many DOHC 4 cylinder imports. So in other words, it's different in every case.

--------------------------------------------------
In theory, reducing wear particles to 0 is optimum but in the real world of automobile engines it doesn't work.

What good does filtering out for instance .5 (1/2) microns ... 100% of the time ... but causing wear by interupting oil flow to the bearings.

--------------------------------------------------
If you are concerned, perform a Used Oil Analysis and see for yourself what is the PPM range in your engine ... for all the major metals (iron, lead, alumn, copper).

--------------------------------------------------

FLOW

FLOW IS ... AS IMPORTANT, maybe ... MORE IMPORTANT ... than FILTRATION. Many filters have good filtration and terrible flow.
__________________________________________________

Now, Let's talk about the different manufacturers:

Here is what is out there:

Honeywell - makes Fram (In Canada the Quaker State filters are Fram filters / In the USA, QS is Purolator), Pennzoil, Quaker State

Arvin Meritor - makes Purolator Premium Plus, PureONE, Ford OEM, V-1 & SureFlow (Superflow?)

Dana - makes Wix and Napa Gold/Silver, AC Delco DuraGuards for Canada

Baldwin (Parent of Hastings) - Baldwin, Hastings, Amsoil, Casite, maybe others

Champion Labs - Mobil 1, K&N, Supertech, AC Delco DuraGuards (two different types) for USA, Bosch Premium, STP, Ultraguard Gold, Deutch & Luberfiner

Cummins Engine - owns Fleetguard

Mann - a top quality German filter maker (for our many German Friends on this site).
__________________________________________________

Considering a combination of FILTRATION and FLOW ...

Perhaps the best $5 filter, Bosch Super Premium or Wix. Reasons: Top notch construction, good filtering, and good flow. (The PureOne is in this price range too, but I've got issues with restricted flow in the PureOne because of the densely packed media.)

And if your budget is $7, Amsoil SDF oil filters.
