Subject: Help! Water leak... IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1998 Dak Sport club cab 4x4. I also have a bitch of a water leak inside the cab on the passenger side. I have searched the forum and alost all the thread have to do with the AC drain.
Mine is not A/C related....It just started to leak when the rain came..It is pouring rain and now my truck is soaked. I park on a hill, nose up if that helps.
I found a small leak in the back window, and fixed it. I also found one in the passenger side mirror, and I fixed that too. Now, I see a steady drip of water from under the dash when it is raining and i am parked. This is driving me crazy!
Anyone else had this problem? Where should i start looking?
Thanks.

Message: if you park nose up on the hill, could be related to the AC issue. any water draining may get on the firewall and proceed down the fire wall where it hits the AC drain tube. if the seal is bad at the firewall, water may be running in through there rather than continuing down the firewall. try parking nose down hill and see if it goes away. check out your drain tube too, may need to throw some silicone around your tube maybe.

Message: I see what you are saying...I can check that out. I have always parked that way and never had a problem before, so I gotta address this.
Where is this drain tube you speak of?
Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your help!

Message: I had a 2001 with a similar problem after owning it for only 5 months we got caught in a rainstorm on our way back from disney world and found the passenger side floor board soaked from water, thought it was an ac problem. took it to the dealer they said the siliconed up anything that could possibly leak. a month later in a fresh rain storm in SC same thing. This time dealer says the rear window didn't quite fit the window frame so there was leakage from that. Three months later, same thing. This time they said that they fixed it right the first time but the daimler chrysler head tech guys said to use some kind of new sealant on this bad weld from the factory (supposedly not a structural thing just where two firewall panels go together), and it hardened up and cracked and wasn't pliable like normal body sealer which they used the last time and seemed to fix the problem. I had to get new carpet all three times due to the smell, all covered under original waranty. a month after that the lights on the truck were going nuts one day when I went to lowes, flashing on there own off and on inside and out. Got home and had them tow it to the dealer (figured I'd get a ticket trying to drive it like that), found out the waterproof computer housing under the dash got a dose of the leaking firewall and started shorting out. Supposedly there is a tech bulletin out now for it but I haven't heard anything else since we had ours in so they could be full of ......

"01 Club Cab. I found the carpet soaked on the passenger side. The windshield was leaking near the top right corner. The water was running down the headliner and down the pillar.
the headliner is plastic or fiberglass so the water was not soaking into it. I sealed the windshield and haven't had a problem since.
