Subject: What does Dyno testing do? IP: Logged
Message: This is a stupid question I'm sure. What exactly does Dyno testing do and why do so many people seem to have this done? Is this something people do that race their trucks?

Message: It Tests the horsepower of your vehicle. You can either do a chassis dyno that measures how much torque and horsepower are at the wheels, or you can take your engine out and have an engine dyno that tests how much crank horsepower and torque there is. On a chassis dyno your drive wheels will set on drums that weight a certain amount and when you hit the gas a computer measures how fast it gets the drums up to speed than changes that into horsepower and torque measurements. People dont need to have it done, its just nice to know sometimes how much power your vehicle is making. Hope this helps answer your question,

Message: Another main point of the dyno is to tune in your ride. Also alot of guys use it to see how much hp and trq they gain when they put on new mods.
