Message: I've got 265 70R 16 tires on my 2001 4*4 dakota. I have to get new tires soon and wanted to get BFG AT KO's. Can u tell me what would be the biggest size tire i could put on my truck to give it the extra lift without having to give it any actual lift? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Message: Here's my two cents...
I own an 85 Landcruiser 6 banger turbo diesel, I put BFG AT TA 33 x 12.50's on it about 8 years ago now. I lived in Calif at the time, now back in Canada. Among other things, I bombed thru a lot of desert, a lot of really steep hills (dirt and loose rock) and did a 14,000 six month back roads road trip in the beast...all kinds of conditions, ice, snow, rain, gravel, mud, etc ..up and down lots of hills towing my off road cargo trailer.
What I'd add to the conversation is this...BFG's wear very well...only today I'm thinking it's time to buy 5 more (rotate them tires!) They've also saved my ass a few times on wet pavement in hard braking situations.
If you're putting bigger boots on your beast than the stock ones, the non-directional tread of the BFGs are very forgiving...rarely do I ever get any pulling. Some of the more directional treads, like the Michelin LTX (still a great tire) pulled the truck off line more on pavement.
BFGs offer traction, long wear, a quiet ride. It really does come down to preference tho. They are definitely NOT great on wet snow....pretty squirley till you lock in the front hubs, and even then it's easy to swap ends on engine braking alone (damned hi-compression diesel, I'll remember to clutch next time). That's my only complaint after 8 years and I don't know how many miles.
I will more than likely buy the BFGs again....something about being familiar with it's pros and cons, rather than learning about another tire's cons at 70 mph on a wet curve and a deer in the headlights.
Regards

Message: sorry guys, only noticed after i posted that it was a dodge dakota site.
other notes..
when i bought my tires, the 33 x 12.50 BFG and American Eagle wheels were the single top selling combo nation wide....ergo, great price. you can't talk tires without talking price.
