 Subject: New stupid ford truck comercial

HAs anyone seen the new f150 commercial where they pull up to a Hemi ram and ask does that have a Hemi and then it shows them pulling away. What ever ford keep tring to make a motor bader than the HEMI maybe the new ram isn't the fastest but all I have to say is 426 M.F.'s

The new Hemi is a 348cid not a 426 and you should drive the two truck before opening your yap. The new Ford is excellent and feels like a Caddy compared to the 1500 Hemi Ram.

Torque this.... Horsepower that... Comfort room.... blah blah blah.
Simple facts of owning a truck is this...
Its no supposed to be comfortable, its supposed to have decent hp and torque, not race car specs. Give me towing power, and give me a rock solid, beat the piss out of it truck without the word luxury being included.
The SUV craze has led to certain aspects leaking into the truck world that has robbed us of what we like in favor of what the soccer mom general public wants.
Want to sell a billion trucks, make it mans truck, no leather, no heated seats, no overhead consoles, make them all 4x4 and give them all v8's. But most importantly, MAKE them fuel effecient. I don't want a ergonomically designed starbucks coffee cup holder in space age gray in a swivel attachment, I want 5 more miles per gallon.

As I refered to the my 1st complaint I know that it's not a 426 D.A. I was just refering to the stint that ford has any trucks other than speciality trucks that have BALLS so thanks for the moran commet but if you can't say a thing nice than keep your candy azz mouth shut!

Sleepy is right, 4x4 and all leather interior do not belong in the same truck. 2x4's should be cofortable street hualers. 4x4's shold be offroad work trucks. And for myself, I can afford an F-150, but i wouldn't buy one if they were the only truck produced. Ever. I've got 2 dodges over 100,000 miles, and both are in awesome running condition.

If Ford is making commercials that directly attack Dodge they must feel threatened by the Hemi Ram and/or Dodge is making good inroads into there sales Numbers...So I think the fact that ford made a commercial with the Hemi in it is a good sign...

I've got to disagree on the leather seats. They're much easier to keep clean than cloth seats. I'd never go back to cloth, especially with two kids.

Unfortunately I think that statement is untrue. What you do is start with a "man's truck" and then wimp it out just enough to get those soccer mom's, etc. to drive it. You loose some of the fringe trucker people, but you gain many more soccer mom's & people who want to look tough enough to drive a truck, but want their leather seats and starbuck's coffee. Oh yea, and make the grill so big that it looks like a semi and then even more people will buy it so they can pretend they are truckers, "breaker-breaker-one-nine..."
The "real truck" market is not where the money is.
You can put on cheaper parts when you know the truck will only be used on the freeways and then slap extra cup holders and charge an extra $$$$$.

The honest truth is, they are all over priced
and all have their problems. As long as we keep

I fully understand that weening out the soccermom/suv gobbling ego flaunting yuppie class will cause the truck market to lose out on its strongest income. But consider this... trucks and suv's are fads, and they will pass. The shift to smaller suv's and station wagons is starting to become more apparent. However the influence that these yuppies class buyers have caused certain problems in our truck world.
For instance, it is no longer possible to get a GMC truck with leather seats without getting OnStar with it. What if I don't want Onstar, and don't feel like paying for the equipment just to get leather? Because of yuppie truck buyers that want a cadillac interior with corvette performance and 8 passenger seating, has perverted our trucks into something they were never meant to be. I feel that long after the yuppies have moved on to the next neighborhood fad, the lingering effects of their market demands will plague our ability to have the truck we really want for many years to come. The emphasis has been on Style, Performance and most of all, luxury interiors, this is unfortunate because the focus should have been on Mileage, reliability, and durability.
Sadly the most detrimental effect this yuppie "big truck/suv I want a APC to get to soccer practice and full time 4x4 so I can drive in the rain like a a$$hole" craze has caused is the price tags on our trucks. 10 years ago a pickup could was considered to be the cheapest auto to buy next to a compact. Why? Cause it only has 2 real seats, not much comfort and its all work and business. Now trucks have $50,000 price tags and are driven by people who never put anything in the bedliner short of their groceries.

Just one thing to add. The yuppie truck/SUV craze is slowly killing the manual transmission on trucks. You can't buy a half-ton with the biggest engine available AND a manual transmission. That's what drove me to the Dakota.

eh standard tannies are overated. as long as automatic tranny has a good low 1st, its pefectly fine in a truck.
oh, for the sake of the argument, I have yet to own a vehicle that isnt manual. mainly because I've been driving standard so long, that I cant figure out what to do my with right hand or left foot in a auto.

or better yet, unless I really pay attention driving and auto, my left foot goes for the clutch, and the brake pedal is so wide, well, 1st winds out, hit the brake, then 2nd, heh, heh, autos, they're so________, you fill in the blank.
Funny how all the high end performance vehicles, are usually coming standard, with a standard tranny. But the overpriced American, quasi american vehicles, even as an option, the manual is just about a dying breed. Personally, i'm glad my wife drives a manual tranny in our other car too. With two kids under three years old in the back in their 'car seats'.
Hell even all the firetrucks these days are autos!
I"m also a volunteer fireman in our community. There's actually some guys on our squad, that can't drive the 'brush' truck, cause it's a manual! LOL

I don't think it is a matter of a standard tranny being over-rated, it's a matter of choice. I enjoy driving a vehicle with a standard tranny. An automatic just feels so sterile. I just think the consumer should be given the choice. Unfortunately the voice of this opinion isn't nearly as loud as the soccer moms' and yuppies'.
