hers the deal. i went to a local muffler shop to get fake dual exhaust pu ton my 92 v8. was plannin to have him put a Y afer the cat and then come out the back for 100 bux. But he tells my my cat is shot. 140 to get fixed. what are the rules to ahve these there. Do you ahve to have one? What happens if you get cought w/out one?

$140 for a aftermarket cat is pretty good. depending on the state you could end up with a repair order from a judge to fix it if you are caught without a cat. If your vehicle came from the factory with one on it you need to have one. Federal EPA law and also California for sure and a host of other states too.

Jegs has-em in their catalog from $51 to $140 plus shipping . Then you have to install them too. so $140 installed aint too bad.

80,000 mi or seven years, his is a '92 that makes it almst 10 yrs. Warrenty don't apply anymore.
