I have a 1994 4x2, auto, v8. I'd like to know what transmission model was installed.
When the OD light is on (OD disabled), the transmission shifts three times, that is, it's going through 4 gears.
When I enable OD, it upshifts again... into a higher 4th gear ratio.
When I disable OD, it downshifts to 2nd, but it seems like a higher 2nd ratio than it used earlier, when I started from a complete stop with OD disabled.
This behavior sounds like the 4 speed 45RFE transmission with two 2nd gear ratios, but I thought that model didn't arrive until 1999.
What model transmission was stock in the 1994 v8, and how many forward gears does this transmission really have?
