Subject: Dome Light not Working
IP: Logged

Message:
I recently had my truck serviced, and it took forever so I'm not too keen on taking it back. But anyway, I'm wondering if anyone could help me with my problem: Both my dome light and my cd player do not work. The battery and the fuses are fine, everything else lights up (head lights, dash lights) The CD player and the dome light will just not work. I'm wondering if their is a common wire or something easy I can do to check.

If anyone knows anything that could help me, I would appricitate it.

P.S. The dome light itself is fine, it's just not getting and power.

It's a 1994 Dodge Dakota SLT Club.

Check the IOD fuse (it's the 10A with the retainer). I had a similar problem and that was the cause...

What service was done? anything in the dash? I had someone check my heater core once, took the dash apart and put it back together and the radio and dome light would not work. Something to do with the wires, been so long. I think they were pinched or something.

i may be sounding like the idiot of the month here, but you may want to check the fuse box that is under the hood (if the '94 has such a thing). recently i was pulling a trailer and the trailer lights went out ... all the fuses in the cab looked good but then i discovered the fuse box under my hood and there was the problem.

just sayin' ... you've probably already checked all that.

Yep, happenned to me too when I took delivery of my 2004 QC. Imagine that! No dome light first evening with a brand new rig. Well, I did some checking and missed the problem first time around. Then in the fuse panel in the dash I saw that one fuse was pulled out about 1/8th of an inch. It has clips on it that allow the dome light to be off with the door open.
The dealership did it I suppose to stop the battery from dying. I just clicked it back in and voila!

Same deal here. Changed the heater core with some stupid buddies and the glovebox light got pinched up somewhere. Shorted out lights and killed radio. There is a pink wire that goes to all int lights and radio. I belive there are two fuses for radio and int lights.. both 10 amps . hmm if all else fails run a constant power (with fuse of course) to one of the pink leads and it will solve all your problems .. good luck
happy trucking
