Subject: DETAILED ENGINE WONT START IP: Logged
Message: WELL ON THIS SATURDAY I WAS DETAILING MY 98 DURANGO 5.2L V8 4X4, SO I LIFTED MY HOOD ABD
SAW THAT MY ENGINE NEED A LITTLE DETAILING TOO.
SO NOT THINK I TOOK THE HOSE AND SPRAY DOWN THE ENGINE. THEN RELIZED THE COMPUTER OR PCM WAS IN THE LINE OF FIRE, BUT BEFORE MY HANDS C0ULD RESPONSED WITH MY BRAIN. THE WATER WENT ON THE PCM. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT RAN JUST FINE, I LET IT RUN FOR ABOUT 10 TO 20 MINUTES. ABOUT 5 HOURS LATER I WENT TO GO HOME FROM MY IN-LAWS I STARTED THE TRUCK TO WARM IT UP. IT RAN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND DIED AND WOULDN'T START BACK UP.
ANY USEFUL HELP IS APPRECIATED.
BLACK 98 DURANGO 5.2L V8 4X4 65,000, REPAIRED THE FOLLOWING COMPONENT: TRANSMISSION, REAREND TWICE, BALL JOINTS, FRONT AND REAR SHOCK, DRIVER SEAT, AND WINDSHIELD.
NEED TO FIX THE FRONT END, I HAVE A RATTLING NOISE THOUGH STEERING COLUNM WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS. NEVER COULD FOUND OUT WHERE IT COMING FROM.
DON'T WANT TO TAKE IT TO THE STEALERSHIP. THE ABOVE REPAIRS WAS DONE IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. SO ANY MECHANICALLY WORK IS NOT A PROBLEM, EXCEPT THE THAT DANG MULTIMETER, CAN SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT DANG THING.

Looks like you have water in the distributor (PCM is waterproof). Blow it out really well & wipe down the rotor & inside the cap with paper towels (absorb water best).
The front end rattle are probably due to shot ball joints or control arm bushings - not a DIY job.

Message: Sorry about the all caps, i using my job computer and my work requires all caps. Don't know why, but it do.
Well, I am not get spark from the coil itself. I pulled the coil plug and had my wife crank the engine and not getting any spark for the coil. The coil is fine, tested with a meter, ohm reading is 12.5. No read from the connection going to the coil.
