 Subject: Will not shift to neutral....

2001 4x4 4.7 Auto CC
I cant get my electronic 4x4 shifter to shift into neutral. Looked at the owners manual, and it says to shift to neutral for towing, so i tried it and can't get the switch to shift to "N" clockwise or counter clockwise.
Any thoughts?

There is a little hole that you need to push a pen or the like into to shift it into neutral ,the knob has nothing to do with it.
