 Subject: Anyone get an 04 yet?

I just ordered an 04 last week, and while I was at the
dealer I was looking at an 04 SXT, mainly the guages.
The SXT was lacking the Voltage, and Oil Pressure
gauges. i was wondering if this is true for all 04s or just
the SXTs.

why would you by an 04 dakota.
DC says the 05 will be out in early 04... new body frame, everything....almost.
Already the 04's are 0% financing here.

Umm....have you guys not seen the pictures of the new '05 durango?? If the new dak looks anything like the new durango, it's going to look like poop. I'd take an '04 dak any day over an '05.

If you go to Dodge.com you can see a picture of the new Durango, which looks pretty cool. Click on the Durango link and they have a picture of it. It appears they have changed the grill from the concept I saw at the Detroit Auto show.

The '05 Dak isn't going to look exactly like the Durango though.. It might not be too bad.. The point is, why buy an '04 4.7 when you can get an '05 4.7 HO with 30 more HP stock?.. And if you wait 1 more year after that you'll probably see a Hemi in '06

why get a '04 and not wait to get the '05?because in my opinion they look kinda like a$$ in the pics i've seen,and as for the 2005 dakota 4.7 HO with the whole 30 more hp...dont get me wrong i would take that motor over my 2001 plain ole 4.7 but i could just buy the cams and get that extra 30hp,the 2005's would be better but i just didn't like the pics i saw of the 2005 durango.Has anyone seen pics of the 2005 dakota?will it be different than the durango?Also FRED why get a 2004 over the 2005?for this reason some people might like the body style better or maybe that its a bit cheaper on getting them at the end of there year.Its like when the ram changed i have a 99 yellow cc 4x4 360 ram but when the ram changed to the different body style i hated it but its kinda growing on me.

Wait, wait......why don't you NEVER buy one, and just look at how better or worse they get over the years...man people say some stupid stuff these days. Buy what you want when you want it, thats the beauty of the USA. But any way, post some pics if you would when you get that thing, I'd like to see the new guages too.

Yeah, if you want an 04 definitely GO FOR IT!
When I was buying my 03, I knew very well the body change was coming in 05 as well as some possible different engine combos, but I like this generation of styling, etc. So I went with what I wanted.

If you do this you would always be broke...lol...like though 20's i saw the other day i just called today and told them to order them for me,sense my dakotas in the shop because someone pulled in front of me,and i'm not running around everywhere wasting money for gas and stuff,i decided to buy them.They cost me $2400 but i guess i got and ok price...there wrapped in like a 275/55r20 i think...and BAJA DAK i'm blaming this on you and this saying you came up with...lol...hey gotta blame it on someone.

Re-read my post, I never said don't buy an '04, if you want one now by all means get one!!! The point I'm trying to make is that by just waiting a few more months, you'll know exactly what the '05 is going to be like (engine, looks, etc.) and then you can decide to stay with the old or go with the new. '04s will be dirt cheap at that point.
Jesus, by the way people bitch and moan here you'd think the '05 is going to look like garbage. You haven't even seen it yet!! It's obviously not going to look exactly like a Durango!! At least see what it looks like before you bash it.

For many of us, we get a new truck when we NEED it, not when we WANT it. A got my first Dakota in '95 because I needed room for 3 kids and the backseat of the CC was perfect. Now they are too big to fit in the back seat of the CC (two are now taller than their Mom) so I needed to get a QC in '03. Waiting a year (or two) for the 'newest thing' can be painful or even impossible if you need the truck NOW.
If my QC was totaled today, I would go out the next day and get either an '03 or '04 depending on what I found at the dealers as I need the truck TODAY, not a year from now.

I just got my 2004 dakota 2 weeks ago- could not, would not wait.; got screwed on the price bought in between rebate programs apparently- it was time to either sink 5000 dollars into the 98 or get a new one- extended warrenty was up 2000 miles ago and it had almost 18$K in warrenty repairs billed to DC -- no more of my money into that pit! I got rid of a 98 slt ext cab , 4x4 3.9 with auto tranny and 3.92 open diff. rear end and heavy duty suspension and got a 2004 sports plus ext cab, with heavy duty suspension, 4.7 auto tranny , 4x4, 3.55 anti- spin differential; only have gotten a edge fiberglass topper and mudflaps so far - they are already replacing the fuel pump under some kind of recall and going to repaint the hood - to remove a drip spot from the factory--if this one breaks as much as the 98 it will be my last DC product, no matter how arrogant the toyota dealer is ;it is either that or a chevy again
