 Subject: 2001 QC Door Locks - Safety Device?

Hello:
I have a 2001 QC 4x4 5.9L and was looking for some info on the door locks. It seems that when I get to where I'm going, I turn off the truck and I and my passenger can get out fine but the 2 rear doors don't unlock. So i have to remember to hit the button to let them out or else they're trapped. Kind of annyoing. I noticed the child safety levers on the rear doors that say "lift to activate" and mine are not lifted.
Anyone know how to deactivate or fix that annoying feature? Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

What you are experiencing is normal.
the only way I know is to disable the auto lock completely. I had the same issue, plus I often cary cargo in the back seats. I would get out of the driverside front door (door unlocks as I pull handle) and then grab the door handle of the driverside back door ( still locked.)
It was very frustating. Not to mention the passengers never being able to find the lock to let themselves out.
to disable the auto lock feature do as follows.
1. Get in close doors and put on the seat belt.
2. Turn key to on (not start)
3. Press and hold the Lock button on the fob for at least 4 seconds, then at the same time press the panic button.
4. If you hear one chime (you did it correct)release both buttons. And that should do it.

GREAT!! Thanks. You're right the autolock feature is extremely annoying. Usually I'll carry stuff in the passengers side back seat so I'll walk all the way over there only to find the door still locked.
So if I disable it completely, the doors just won't lock when I start driving?

that is correct. the doors will not lock until you tell them to lock.
you can do the steps again at any time to put the OEM funtionality back.
I also disabled my horn beep when I use the fob to lock doors.
