 Subject: FUNNY HOSE

I was looking under the hood and notice a hose that is not connected to anything at one end.It is right next to the p/brake booster and travels down the tranny shaft, It then goes to a box under the truck under the extended cab section,It almost looks like a vent of some sort.
The end that is in the engine compartment has a stopper on it that kinda looks like a hood to prevent water to get into it but let the hose breathe.It is the same size as the heater core hose...Anybody have an idea?
BTW..it is a v6/auto/1997

It's either the cannuter valve, or where you grease the muffler bearings.

Ya what is that thing? Got one under my hood too. It`s a vent for something.
