I am about to install an auto dimming mirror in my 2003 CC. To do this, I must remove the driver side A-Piller to run the cables. How difficult is it to remove and what is the best way to do this?

Keep what you have auto dimmer isnt worth the hastle if you drive a lot at night

taking the a pilar off is really easy. on the grab handle
there are two little rectangles, one top one bottom. get
those out, fingernail or screw driver. then there are two
bolts. they are either torx or phylips. unscrew those and
pull off the handle then the whole a pilar plastic will
come off. now you see the metal and a wire bundle that
goes to the head liner. i hope that helps. i have done
this a few times because i mounted switches in my over
head console.

Every cent, and boy, how fast you get used to the mirror self-adjusting for head-light glare coming up behind you!
The option is a worthy one.
I wouldn't go back to just the flip mirror...

I had one in my 2000 dak and found it very convenient. It's one of many enhancements I have in mind to make this new dak mine.

Is the auto dimming mirror an option from Dodge? Or did you get one from the aftermarket? What was the cost of the mirror? Sounds like something I would like to add to my 2002 CC SLT.

I believe it is part of a package but you could buy it as a part from them. I bought mine from AutoBarn online. Paid $184.00 plus shipping. I got the one with the temp and compass features.
Took about an hour to install.

Mine came with my options package.
Again, an idea that works very, very well!
You'll like that green LCD that glows to the right of the auto function--that tells you your Dak is 'special' :)

Thanks for the info Rick and Sesquash. I did get an SLT with the overhead console, but no mileage computer. Will go see what the dealer wants for it. The factory wiring harness probably has the hooks up for it some place.
