Message: why does my 2001 4x4 dakota ext cab bounce all over the road, every dirt road feels like a washboard and my rear fish tales and the front doesn't feel that stable either (at speeds 60km/hr)

Message: Mainly because the stock rear shocks aren't well tuned to the suspension. Decreasing your rear tire pressure can help, as can good aftermarket shocks.

Message: Ahhh the semi-annual "...fish-tail, jumpy rear..." question. As Kowalski said, reducing rear tire pressure does help some, as does changing the shocks. I put Edelbrock IAS on mine and like them.
Be aware though that these items will help that jumpy azz'd wench, but do not solve it. Mine still jumps around more then I'd like, and the frame just tends to reverberate after hitting some bumps, but what else can you do.
FYI, I have an 02 QC AWD 4x4 auto.

Message: I've read here that the Roadmaster Active Suspension can help the wheel hop. I've just installed a set on my '03 Quad cab and it seems to have settled things down quite a bit, but I may just be attempting to justify the $$$ for the things.

Message: I know theyre are different, especially in the rearend weight and fishtail and all, but I put Bilstein shocks on my 98 Durango and love them. They are great, kinda pricey, but not too bad conpared to the Rancho 9000x and such. Mine were $250 for all four corners from Autozone.

Message: No you did not miss anything. I thought I was GotanRT's girl friend, but now I see from his post that he claims to have a wife. I didnt think he was making enough at Toys R Us to keep a wife and have a girl friend on the side.
