Message: This is my first post on this really great board, have been reading it for about a month. I have a 2001 SLT 4x4 with 4.7 auto, heavy duty group, and tire handling package. Have upgraded the exaust with a Ravin HP muffler, the intake with an Airaid, and have added stainless step bars, a Safari bar with Hella driving lights, and a hard bed cover. Absolutely love this truck. You could probably figure out that it's white. I would like to remove the shiny Dakota and SLT medallions and the tailgate decals. I understand that a hair dryer and some goop will work for the decals, but what about the metal Dakota and SLT medallions? Same method, or another procedure that will not damage my paint?

Message: Yep! I just used my finger nails and a hair dryer on my '01 QC. Works on the decals as well as the door badges. Final clean-up with "bug & tar remover."
I don't know about "goop." I'd be careful about anything that is not designed for auto paint.

Message: I just did mine an hour ago and I used my fingernail to get it started and they came right off! Almost no adhesive left behind at all. Then you just use an automotive adhesive remover to get the residue off, and finally be sure to apply some wax/polish to the area where the emblems were.

Message: KEWL! I was hoping it would be that easy. I'll postpone the old nail trim until my Dak is smooth and clean. Thanks!

Message: My badges were toast once I got them off. They pretty much disintegrate as they are removed.
