Well thanks for the help. I guess i am just stuck with her the way she is. I am not sure but I thing the EGR sensor melted year or more ago. lol it was a melted blob and from the look of it I was lucky the whole truck did not burn down. at the time I figured it could not be that important because the truck was still running. lol

So there is really no way to fixx this? I was hoping to get her fule milage up so I could use her to comute to school next year. If i can't get better MPG then will have to get new car. Is there any way to get the back pressure you speak of back I miss my old girl they way she used to be and if at all possible i would like to fix her.

I believe the cat is gone. However, I know I have an exsaust leak and since I have figured out that this is an exsaust problem I will proable go back with an entirly new egsaust system, includeing the cat. Will this make a diffrence on the back pressure you speak of. If I go back with a new egsaust, cat and a new EGR at the same time will it still burn out the new valve? Or is it possible to restore the propper pressure by going new everything all at same time? Even if the cat is still there the pressure was disrupted over a year ago when I had to cut the exsaust to get to my clutch.(I think it was switched to a 5 speed after market due to fact I had to replace with a chevy clutch not a dodge.Go figure lol) Any way the exsaust was cut in order to lower transmission. I guess my question is.. If I go back all new all at the same time will i just burn out the new valve or do I stand at least a chance of fixing it. Or should I not waist my time.

Just for the record She is a '94 dodge dakota with the 318. Although she has spent a good amount of money she is dependable and I hate to let her go down or just buy a new car and let her rust. I am a student however and will have to start commuting in a year or so. If I can just get her MPG up a little I trust her for the commute. I cant afford to waste money trying to fix this if it won't work. She will get the new exsaust no matter what the question is should I go ahead and put the 85$ in the valve at the same time.

Chances are that a bad (clogged) catcon overheated, exhaust backed up and melted the EGR. Happened to my brother. Replacing the catcon and then the EGR fixed it.
