Subject: Should I trust the dip stick?

My 46RE tranny is about 1/2" over filled according to the stick. Truck has 4,000 on it. Also, if it is over filled, could it be causing my torque converter (I think that is what it is!) to grind/vibrate (not shutter either) occasionally going up hill in OD? Definitely has enough torque to make it up but it just will do this randomly, less or more throttle and it will stop. Dodge has to have the worst trannys is the world! My cherokee tranny has 170,000 on it and it still runs smooth as silk!

I just took delivery of my new '03 R/T. My dip shows the same reading as yours. I also had that reading on my traded '01 Sport dip-stick after a dealer oil change. I think that is what they show when that final .2 of a quart of litre is 'thrown' in and not wasted. Belive me, if you had the journals of your crank slapping that oil, you'd see the bubbles, mist and smell it!

Don't worry about it. They all show that.
