Subject: Truck Vibrating and Belt change

Ok two parts to this if anyone can lend a hand. Its a 2000 3.9 4x4 sport w/77k miles and I have been trying to change my belt but it keeps walking off the pulley just below the tensioner. I have gotten a quote for $58 for a new belt from Dodge but just cant seem to break down and get it. The dilema I have is that the belt that every parts store wants to give me, the 6 or 7 digit number ends in 70. Im not sure the "PK" number. But i assume like ford belts the 70 is the length. Well the belt on the truck ends in 65. I have even tried parts store to see if they have that belt and noone carrys it??? Well Im not sure if the tensioner isnt putting enough tension on or if the belt isnt short enough.

Second, the front end shakes vigorously lightly all the time but then extremely bad at certain high speeds. Like 44mph and 69mph it goes crazy. And the sterring wheel jerks back and fourth at the same time about 2inches each way. the left front wheel also has something rubbing with each revolution. At the same time the left front has always felt like it was going over a small hump WHEN i turned the wheel all the way to the right and back up.

Thanks for any help

Check tires balance first.

Then look for the rubbing. Look for shiney metal where it should be dark.

Go to the dealership and buy the correct belt. When it comes time to replace it, take it to the auto parts store and have them measure the size.
