Well people after owning 2 Dodges I've came to the decesion that I will not be buyjng another Dodge for my next truck. I'm going with Chevy this time again. Gettin a 1500HD or 2500HD 4 door with the 6.0 liter. I had my S-10 for 3 years & never had half the problems I've had with my Dakota's. The only good thing Dodge has going for them is their 7 year-70000 mile warrenty. Then agan if they built a better quality truck & stood behind it they wouldn't need such a warrenty on their trucks. I'm keeping my Dakota till the frist of the year but I refuse to invest any more money in it. So to all you Dakota owners my best wishs to all of you & hope you have better luck with your Dakota's than I've had with my.

I agree that a Dodge is not a wise investment at this time.

I'm waiting on the new Nissan Titan - apparently Nissan has defined a new standard of automotive production for others to follow.

I'm not sure GM won't be in the same lifeboat as Chrysler in the near future.

If you're going to spend $30K - you better make a well-informed choice.

Have to agree, J.D.

Avoid any GM and Ford too. I'm with BearHit...get a Jap truck and you'll be a happy camper. And they're built here so no need to fuel the ignorant money going offshore redneck propoganda BS mill.

GM trucks are built in a plant in my town and knowing some of the drunken morons who build them, I'd never buy one of those POS's.

I'd go with a Toyota myself but the Nissan Titan seems mighty intriguing.

I'm not buying no Toyota or Nissan nither. I'm gettin a full size 4 door truck. Don't want no more mid size trucks. Hell as much as i spend on gas for this gas guzzling peice of sh.. dodge I got. I can spend it for gas on a full size. Plus a Chevy 2500HD will drag a Toyota or Nissan All over the place. Plus I'm buying America made truck. Not supporting some japs!!

Yeah, I'm looking forward to see the Titan in person. Probably end up in a Toyota again, as I never should have sold my last one. I'm not hanging on to my Dak much longer, cause the warranty is up in 100 miles (36K on my 01) and it's been to the dealer for warranty repairs a dozen times, so I'm looking to unload it quick.

That's the great thing about freedom of choice, you can buy any brand you want. And then when it has troubles you can piss and moan and say you will never buy that brand again. Even better yet is that you will be on a different web site doing your crying. Gotta love our freedoms!

Yup, and "yah" seems to be doing a little crying of his own.

It's perfectly acceptable to post negative experiences with your Dakota on a Dakota website.

I wouldn't be too sure about dragging a Titan "all over the place." And yes, it is a full size truck, no doubt about it. I went to lunch with a buddy the other day and there were four Titans in the parking lot at Wendy's. There was also every other 1/2 ton truck there (i.e. Ram 1500's and F-150's and the like).

He and I went inside and there were about thirty guys all in this one group, all between probably 30 and 50 years old. Putting two and two together, we figured they were testing them.

Well, we got our orders and to-go and stole some glances inside the new Titans. They seemed to have different trim levels for the testing, and the nicest one seemed pretty nice, but not as nice as the new F-150 (and I think the Dakota has a nicer interior on their top of the line).

But on first glance, those Titans are huge. I don't know how much they weigh, but they sit up pretty good and seem to be even bigger than the Ram Quad Cab (which is also pretty big). Their 5.6L V8 seems pretty strong too. Torque if I remember right is 375+ lb-ft @ 3200 RPM. HP is over 300 too. It's no 345 HP Hemi, but it seems abnormally large coming out of Japan, land of the four-cylinder. They actually had to modify the showrooms and service bays to fit it and their new Armada SUV.

Still, if you're looking for a bigger truck then the aforementioned 2500HD may be for you. I can't tell if you're really serious, J.D., but the 1500 four-door with the 6.0L will give you a softer ride and good truck plusses. The 2500HD is more a tow rig, what with the diesel and 496 engines and all, albeit a nicely optioned one.
Either one will drag around a Toyota though :).

Just for the record I'm perfectly content saving $15,000 and driving my 2002 Dakota SLT+.

I've got over 180K miles on my '93 Dakota. I have no complaints for what Dodge has done in the past.

My beef is with the shape of things to come with the new Management strategy. Not very promising...

Blind loyalty is simply that - stay informed.

(Yes the Titan clearance is 11" compared to 8.5" for the Ram)

Just had the upper A frame repalced on the passager's side on the peice of Sh.. Dakota I'm buying. Now it sounds like the upper A frame on the driver's side is doing the same thing. So guess I'll be forking out another $140.00 to get it fixed here real soon. Thank goodness I was smart enought to get a extended warrenty on this peice of Sh.. Dodge. And my truck only has 73000 miles on it & it's a 2 wheel drive. As I stated eariler this will be the last Dodge truck I buy!! In other words FU.. a Dodge. Their JUNK JUNK I say again Junk!!!!

I don't see it as a midsized truck. It 100% fullsize, but only comes with one standard engine. Which could be a good thing since most people always goes for the top of the line option in a 1/2 ton.

But, I'm not a big fan of the interior styiling. But I've always like the idea of a floor mounted shifter.

JD.

If you going to get a H.D Chevy/GMC pick-up. The 1500HD is the same as the 2500HD. That's just GM's way of selling more trucks just to get after a larger piece of the market. The only deffence is, the 1500HD dosn't have a bulged hood.

But you might want to take a trip at your local Ford dealer. Regardless of what you think of Ford; there new F150 does sat many standards, sophistication and also got the best payload and towing of the bunch.

Also the new Triton 5.4L is uses 3valves per cyl. and puts out 300 HP (the same as the 6Litre V-tech) and 365 lbs or tourqe (5 more than the GM's larger 364cid motor)

I know I will definitely be driving one of the new F-150s. I like the looks of the Dakota and the Ram better, but it sounds like the F-150 is just a better truck. It has the torque where a truck should (lower RPMs), payload, and the interior is remarkable. Plus, its on the Consumer Report recommended list for reliability.

I've tested on already. And you don't have to shoot up the RMP's just for it to have a good launch like the Hemi ram 1500.

What trim are you getting Manuel? XLT,STX...

A friend of mine had a 2003 Chevy Diesle and the motor blew in it already, sucks to, I'm a Chevy person who happens to own a Dakota. As for that Nissan pictured above I don't mind the interior so much but the exterior looks like Sh!t, who the hell designed that, the same guy that did the Honda Element?
