Message: I visited the Dodge website and noticed that for 2004, the R/T and 5.9 are gone. I figured the 5.9 to be gone becase of the new Hemi, but is Dodge going to hold off the R/T Hemi until the redesign next year?

Message: Yes the R/T is gone for 2004. There has been no word of when or if an R/T will return. If I had to guess, I would say that the next performance addition will be an SRT Dakota of some sort with the use of the 5.7L Hemi engine.
Here is a link to some of the new spy shots....

Message: Boys...I have an 'in' at DC Canada, and he said that you won't see a Dakota with the new Hemi. Why? Because they have a glut-load of the high-performance 4.7's and THAT is what they are going to use in place of the venerable 5.9/360 V-8. That goes for the U.S. side of things as well. The Hemi is going into the RAMS and DURANGOS.
He also said that the '03 R/T will shortly become a true and bonafide collector item notably as the last model year for the R/T. It will also be the most sought out unit in four to five years.
I actually got the second last one left in Ontario. I was lucky in that mine came loaded to the gills...just as though I had ordered it. Love the R/T. Blows my '01 SPORT away to them thar hills...:)
Happy R/T Groupie

Message: There was one at Durham Dodge in Oshawa but they found a patsy for it.
It may be a collectors item but IMHO the same chassis setup with a 4.7H.O. is a way better truck performance wise and fuel economy wise.
Just an opinion.

Message: Actually, I think Dodge will use the 5.7L in the new Dakota. The Dakota and Durango will share the same platform, so it only makes sense that they will share the same engines as well. The only real difference to note will be the slightly smaller body cladding for the Daktoa to keep the gap in size more significant between the Ram and Dakota. The new Durango looks significantly larger than the current (original) model in side by side comparison...

Message: Sesquash where in Ontario are you. I have a rare 2003 R/T as it has the stampede package....
Only the Jan-June models have it on the 03's prior to Jan production they look like the 2002.
You should join the Ontario R/T National club.

Message: Hello K.T.
I hail from South Western Ontario. My Flame Red Clear Coat '03 has the full ground effects, and the chrome billletd SPYDER mags. Magnificent machine!
I have had it for about a week, and I have to say, that this is the FINEST piece of Testosterone Inducing FUNware to have come into my possesion for some time.
I got divorced awhile back, and I guess this is my version of going out and growing a pony-tail, LOLOL! Screw the Harley, LOL
Seriously though, the ONLY engine I would want for my R/T is the massive low-end grunt of the 360. I'm 50 years old, and remember the 360's (1969-1979 great Dodge years)in all their incarnations. ONE HELL OF A RESPECTED MOTOR! Challengers, Super B's, Dusters, all the fond hardware of my High School and post High-School days. I actually find it an honour to now say I own this magnificent engine.
Proud Canadian, and proud Dodge 360 cubic inch Jockey!

Message: Hey KJ,
Thinkin' about that club, while I steer my R/T and myself towards the Blue Ridge Mountains, then over and down into South Carolina!
Some R and R for the Sesquash and the 'R/T'....:)
All work and no funfest makes the both of us dull...lol!!!
Never mind that the finest FOXES can be viewed on those great beaches and fairways this time of year! :) Blondes and Brunnies.....gotta luv it. BTW..they LIKE R/T's---it's a 'you-know-what' magnet....heh,heh, heh...
Have a good time at St. Thomas, my stompin' grounds! Don't blow up the engine!
Later,
The 'quash.

Message: The R/T dakota is supposed to have the 5.7 liter available around summer of 2004 for the 2005 models. This is what Ive been told if someone knows for a fact that this is not true then please let me know. The 5.9, by the way is a nice engine it has a lot of low end torque.....but it will not compare if the hemi truly is dropped in one of these bad little trucks. I had a 2000 4.7 L 5 speed and a 2000 R/T dakota and I must admit both were almost the same in power; so really Dodge might as well just keep the line-up like it is and never have another R/T if it doesnt drop the Hemi in the '05's. May as well order a 5 speed stampede version 4.7L until then. Think about it.

Message: Hey Mat, I'm with you on that 4.7 with the 5 speed. I've never been a fan of automatics. The thing is, the dealership by me has 2 regular cab 03's on their lot. After all rebates & deals, I could pick one up for about $5000 below invoice!!!
