I guess im pretty lucky. I have 45k on my 02 qc 4x4 and the joints are still good i have been really keeping an eye on them. I drive on some pretty bad roads here in Mass. I use a needle greaser on mine to keep them lubed and i really think that is helping a lot. dodge reallyneeds to do something about this problem, complete failure like this one is going to kill someone someday.

Does anyone have a catalog or other resource for finding Moog part numbers? 99 318 4WD - upper/lower ball joints and inner tie rod ends.

I want to know if the ball joint problem applies to all year models of dakotas???? I have one with 125,000 miles on it that is five years old. Besides replacing the joint, is there anything you can do to prevent it from deteriorating?

Maybe this helps:

There was a report on CBS October 27th about ball joint failure in Dakota's and Durango's shortly after the truck reaches 30k miles.

If you have TIVO maybe you can replay it, or maybe CBS has something on their website.

Chrysler will not issue a recall and is the subject of a class action lawsuit. You might all want to get your trucks front end inspected thoroughly.
