Subject: Help! ABS/BRAKE lights on1 IP: Logged
Message: Well I had my front brakes done today.
New Rotors and Pads.
I had the fluid changed too.
I also had my calipers and drums painted. (Looks Bitchin')
However, now,... after driving for a few minutes, the ABS/BRAKE lights come on. If I shut the engine off and then restart the lights go off,....
but come back on after a few minutes.
So I thought I would try resetting the PCM by unplugging the negative from the battery and holding the ignition key forward for 30 seconds.
Is that all I have to do?
Is there anything else I need to do?
Is there anything else it could be?
Thanks

Message: Aaah...looks like it's time to replace the rear ABS sensor. It's on top of the differential and when it goes out, you get the ABS and Brake light on. GO to the dealer, it's not too expensive...under $50

Message: I already replaced the sensor. Did that yesterday and no change. I read a posting last night that stated if the brakes are not bled correctly then the lights come on when you hit 40mph.
I read where you have to have the brakes bled in sequence and then have ABS controller bled with a OBD analyzer hooked up to it.
Have you heard of this?
I hope my indy shop can do this. I'd have to have to go to a Dodge dealer.
Thanks

Message: When I had my 99 R/T the ABS computer went out and would play havoc with all the solenoids on the system causing the light to come on. I replace the sensors on the front wheels w/o change, only thing to do was the computer which ended up being the problem on the diagnostic. It is an expensive piece, costing between 350-450.00 depending on who you know.

Message: Since you didn't have a problem with the light before you had the work done I would start with the garage that did the work. They should have to make it right.

Message: Well problem solved.
It was air in the ABS sensing unit.
The system was bled and the problems went away.

Message: Glad you found the problem. Anytime you have a problem after having work done like that.ie:worn parts replaced, that didn't exist prior to the work chances are the work was done improperly.
