Message: Unless you don't want to use the ac at all, I wouldn't suggest disconnecting it for 2 reasons.
1) When you turn your defroster on, you are turning on the AC.
2) The refrigerant in your AC is mixed with an oil. This oil keeps the seals lubricated. The seals keep your refrigerant in. If you do not run your AC, the seals do not stay lubricated, they dry up, your refrigerant escapes and you are stuck paying for AC service in the summer. It's cheaper to run the AC once a month and lube the seals.
