Subject: Recurring DTC #0138, why?? IP: Logged
Message: The check-engine light keeps going on and off on my '00 CC V6. It'll be on for a few days, then off for a few days...when it's on, it gives me the code P0138. That's the downstream O2 sensor voltage too high, or something...
So, it's not necessarily the sensor, right? I mean, it could be a clogged cat, a short in the wiring, etc...
Basically, if it's intermittent, would it be the sensor that is bad?
BTW- gas mileage is down, performance seems OK...maybe a little lacking, and I'm getting some pinging on acceleration.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Message: Sounds like your cat is becoming constipated....Fellow here at work just went through the same thing and $1100.00, which included other work, not just the cat

Message: great, just what i needed to hear, after putting $830 into my wife's car yesterday.
So, what does a new/used cat cost? Are aftermarkets cheaper than OEM?
Thanks

Message: I don't think an exhaust place will put on a used one. I don't think a new one is to far out of line, price wise. Magnaflows high performace cats are around $100, shouldn't be to much to have it welded in.
