Subject: Water leak on floorboard UPDATE IP: Logged
Message: As a follow up to my post about finding water on the floorboard under the carpet...
http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/13534.html
I am happy to report that the new drain tube seems to have fixed the problem. The water now flows on the ground like it should, and after checking under the carpet every 2-3 days since I had it in, everything is nice and dry :)
After I had my run in with my water problem I have asked two others Dakata owners if they have ever checked their floorboards, neither had...I told them my story, showed them the modification that was done to mine then I helped them to check theirs...Both had water, they are both taking their trucks back to the dealer for the same fix.
Kindest Regards,
Keith

All they did was to cut off enough of the heat shield in front of the drain tube to gain access to it so they could then attach a pre-bent piece of rubber hose to it. The hose appears to have a zip-tie already molded into it. The new tube comes straight out(about 1")and then down(about 8" or so).
An easy fix really...And so far, so good.
Do the newer Dakota's(2004) have this tube already installed now?

Message: K, by any chance do you have a repair ticket with a part # for the drain tube, it would really help a lot of us
Thanks
