Subject: Gear changes IP: Logged
Message: I have a '03 CC 4.7 Manual 5spd 4x4 and it came with 3:55's and I want to change to the 3:92's. About how much am I looking at to do this ? (ballpark figure)
Also I want to change the too small fixed mirrors to the larger heated folding mirrors.Has anyone tried this ? How much ?

Message: For a 4x4 gear change, you're lookin at $250 for the back, $250 for the front, and around $300 for labor. If you can get it done for around $800 you're doin good. Most likely it will end up being around $1K once you're all said and done.

Message: Sounds about right....A little low on the labor. Should be about $200-$250 an axle. Perosnally I wouldnt bother changing to just 3.92's. Go with 4.11's, much happier with larger tires and/or towing anything. Also if you ever considered a locker now would be the time cause they shouldnt charge you extra to install it. Everything will be apart anyway.

Message: Thx guys. What would be a good locker,or one to avoid. I was thinking about the 4:11's too thx.I'm gonna be pulling the boat to Eastern Washington over real mountain passes.Is there any real mpg difference from 3:92 to 4:11.Obviouly some but is it a big deal on the hwy ?
