Subject: brakes, bearing, or ball joints

Question 93 Dak 4X4 V6. Sometimes backing up slow while turning get a grinding noise. Sounds like a pad skipping on the rotor or a tire dragging sheetmetal somewhere. Don't see any rubs and brakes look brand new. No noticable play, tire wear looks even. Backing left or right doesn't matter. CV joints and boots look good. How do you check the hub bearings, and what's the right way to support it for checking ball joints with a torsion spring? Thanks in advance
