Subject: Sell me out on a dak IP: Logged
Message: Ok, so I have been considering some options here. I have a gen 2 dak with 100,230 miles on it. Its a 1993, and Im thinking about getting a gen 3 (possibly). I dont have much cash flow at the moment (school and all). I was looking for a 98 or possibly 99 dakota, but what I need from it is this:
-Decent gas mileage (15mpg kills me)
-Performance (doesnt have to be the fastest thing, but something with pickup at least)
-5 speed (yes, very much so has to be)
-4x2 is fine
-Looks & useability (sp?)(not a rust bucket kinda thing or lemon, etc)
Anyways, what would someone expect to pay I guess for a 99 dakota single cab 4x2 5 speed? 10 or 12K ?? used?
I havent looked around much yet, but 10 - 12K is a lot for me. And I dont want something high mileage (50K is good, but knowing a dak, that may be hard to find).

Message: ray buddy, now i know i don't know you, and i'm not one to judge a fella. But damn dude. That post was completly random and point less. you even admit that you havn't done any researh yet. just take a look at it once it's all typed and i think you'd see my point.
you can probably get a gen III for under 10 grand. but i wouldn't expect it to have many options and possibly pretty high milage. just out of curiosity, why do you want a truck? I know we all like dakotas, but for someone on a budget there are certainly better options until more money is available.
p.s. my 02 gets less then 15 mpg

Message: The cost of a newer truck will be more than paying for a 15mpg gas bills.
My 92 318 gets 20mpg on the highway and 16-17 mixed driving. 150k.
100,000 miles is just breaking an engine in. I qoulds consider your truck to have very low miles. Have you tried a good tune-up? Which engine do you have? What is your diff gear?

Message: I could get up to 20mpg on the highway with my '93 318. It has 113k miles. My last fillup got me about 9mpg. $16.25 for 83 miles.

Message: I gotta dak for 5,000 negotiable, super nice but it is a 1996 Ex. Cab SLT V6 Auto (genII). I know its not exactly what you wanted but it is in your price range with only 85,000 and still runs new. I have a few modifications on it like a rollpan, K&N FIPK Intake system, JBA 8mm Plug Wires, and A 40 series Flowmaster Exhaust that exits in front of the back tire. I get 24mpg on Highway and 17-19 all city; well, town. If you or anyone else is interested in knowing all the rest i have to say about my super nice dakota, please feel free to email me at Lejeune123@juno.com. Thank you. Goodbye.
