Subject: HELP: PVC Valve, where is it? IP: Logged
Message: Where is the PVC valve on my 2000 Dakota 3.9. When facing the engine it looks as if it was on the left hand side on top of cover where the oil goes in. Also there is one that looks the same on the other side of the engine but is slightly bigger. What is this? I have oil in my air filter and I was thinking this may fix it. Is there anything else I should change? The truck has 39000 miles on it.

Message: On the 5.2L, it's on the pass. side valve cover. I imagine that it would be the same on the 3.9L. There should be a vacuum hose running from the valve to the intake manifold. The one on the driver's side is the breather. Oil on the air filter is normal as it comes from the blow-by gases from the pcv valve via the vacuum hose. HTH.

Message: On my '98 3.9, it is located on the passenger side valve cover. Pull the bottom of the pvc valve from the valve cover, then pull the other end from the hose. 20 second installation. Oh, reinstallation is opposite of installation. :)
