I was wondering if one were to take the tube leading from the fender well to the air box and take the fender side off then point it forward twards the grill, if there would be any benifits from this, or am I just waisting my time? This is on the 1995,5.9 v-8 by the way.

Thanx, good idea on the plate. Looks stock if you don't
look to hard, but flows more air! I like to see gen1 daks
being customized. We used to have a V-6 89 dak but
sold it to upgrade to my uncle's old ram.

So without some sort of air damn, by taking off the snorkel, and removing the rubber flap, you just introduced mixed under the hood air with some air the comes thru the grill when you're moving.

The stock set-up is actually pretty nice, dyno wise, and pulls it's air from the cowling under the windshield, thru the fender, to the snorkel, etc.

Is it my imagination, or has this been discussed at length before?

There's even people that wall off the area from the motor and hood area with things as simple as an insulated, layered, 'OPEN HOUSE' sign that they cut up and fit in there, works well, and light on the wallet. This allos air from the fender when stopped, and the grill when moving, elininating the under hood air. (oh wait, that was me who did that, posted pics once on here somewhere)

Todd I like the idea of blocking off the engine
air . The snorkle is zip tied to a coolent hose at
the moment pointing directly at the back of the
right headlight but far enough back to allow
good airflow. If you could locate some pics or
a diagram on your setup that would be nice.
Soon the zip tie situation will be soulved by a
custom snorkle, but right now I don't know
how it will be built so any ideas will be helpful!
