Subject: Fixing the Puddle myself IP: Logged
Message: Alright. I've decided to fix the infamous passenger side floor board problem myself since my truck is out of warrenty. My plan right now is to take out the passenger side seat and center console and roll the carpet back and somehow hold it in place out of the way. Then, I'll dry out the water and run the truck with the AC on and spray some water on the windshield to see if I can find the leak. I'll then patch it up with either new tubing or silicone, or a mix of both. Then, I'll cut slits in the plastic on the bottom of the matting and start squeezing the water from it, drying it up, then repeating until I can't get anymore out. THen I'll take a blow dryer to it to get it as dry as I can, and hopefully get rid of the sour water smell. Do you all think this will work? How do I take the center console and seat out?

Message: I just got a rebuilt (salvaged) 2001 4x4 quad cab. CAn you tell me how to check if I have this infamous problem? Where is this drain tube located. I'm not overly familiar with the truck yet since I've only had it about a week but if I have this problem, I'd like to nip it in the bud now.
Thanks!

Message: I don't know where the tube is either, so I'm going to watch for water leaking when the AC is on and there's water coming down the windshield, then locate it from there. I just need to get the passenger side seat and center console out so I can pull the carpet out. This also means my system has to come out until this is fixed. I hope this works, cause it really stinks.

Message: In many cases, the water only leaks in when the truck is going down the road, if the drain tube going thru the firewall is the culprit.
Wind causes it to adhere to the tube, and leak in back thru the hole in the fklirewall. Only really happens when you're moving.
There are other causes of the same infamous puddle though, unfortunately.
