What does the dodge LSD sound like when it's coming apart?
I took a pretty good shot to the rear of the truck from a drunk driver a couple of weeks back. The impact was from the right rear mostly from her catching and getting caught up in the bumper. Pushed the truck into the wife's car and my neighbor's car.

I now have a noise that sounds like all hell is breaking loose when I accelerate quickly from a stop. Kind of like a rotational snapping and popping. It does not happen when accelerating slowly or when punching the throttle while moving. I have also developed a chirping sound while moving, similar to a cricket, between 30 -50 mph. Both sounds seam to be at the back of the truck. I'll have the body shop guy road test it while he has it in for repair. Goes in Monday and I won't get it back until the first week of October.
Thanks for any input.

Message: Check out www.ringpinion.com, there is a diagnosis section that can help you to isolate the noise(s). Don't know of yours is there, but it's worth a look.

Well, I finally fixed the problems. The vibration that I was getting along with part of the noise, was a worn out rear u-joint. The other noise was from the fan clutch, this thing made a hell of a racket. The water pump had a couple of drips, replaced it. The new pump, a dodge new factory part, failed after a couple of hundred miles. The PLASTIC impeller cracked in half and literally fell off.
That was enough fun for one month. :)

Message: I was just going to say rear U-joint when I read that you had already discovered it. Had to replace mine a few months ago and it did the same thing.
