 Subject: Service Engine Light

I have a 2001 Quad Cab just got it a little less then 2 months ago, and for some reason the service light popped on. I've checked everything and nothing seems wrong, the engine doesn't sound any different. I know it needs and oil change but that wouldn't have an affect would it? Does anyone know what might me the problem, thanks.

Check the codes:
Put the key in ignition, and cycle it to the 'On' position three times (don't crank it,,just the ON position). This will bring up the codes.
If you post the code here,,,or just search it,,,you, or someone will help you I'm sure.

Nope---- it will show up in the odometer display.
It will be P???? then show PdonE after code has been displayed.
Then do a search for OBD II codes online or post it here.

That happend to me, it turned out the gas cap was off, it took about a good two hours of driving for the light to go off after i tighten the cap.
