Message: Not sure on headers. Good mechanic friend of mine advised me against them because he said it was really hard to keep them from leaking around gaskets unless you had them machined for your truck. V-Force makes good muffler. You can read about them @ http://flopro.com/VForce.html I had local shop install single in dual out system on mine for 170.00 + tax and have had lots of compliments on sound and looks.

Message: Get a single 2.5" Dynomax for $90 installed and dump it before the axle. I did AFTER I remove the 3rd cat(do that for sure!) and noticed a serious difference in tq and hp above 3k all the way to redline. It winds like a Honda now.

Message: Be careful if dumping before the axle. Exhaust gas will dry rot tires like you wouldn't believe.

Message: I have a 3.9L and got myself a Flowmaster 40 series, and had it dump out right infront of the rear tire (total cost $140, muffler and install). It sounds great, and has good horsepower gains. It makes my V6 rumble. I was surprised when i was setting off car alarms in the parking garage near where i work. It really rumbles.
As for tire rot...i haven't experienced that yet (knock on wood).
