Message: I spent hours looking - doesn't seem to be any sort of online MOOG parts catalog - and finally found Carparts.com. You can search parts for your vehicle and they carry MOOG.

Message: Is there any owner of a '97 - '99 Dak that won't be looking for new Ball Joints at some point?
Who thought non-servicable was a good idea is such a high motion part? The MOOG joints are greasable, and are stronger than stock. I've read on the performance board that DC is covering warn ball joints even if you're out of warranty - and they are replacing them with... MOOG.

Message: Mogul ball joints are great. They are even visualy a lot beefier. My 5.2 98 Dak 4X4 had blown ball joints when I returned it early with only 50 miles left on the lease to get my 4.7. Brakes were also shot.

Message: Just a thought. Why not go with a store brand like NAPA. I know that Napa does not make their own parts and most of their parts have a lifetime waranty. I just stick the receipts for major repairs in the glove box so I always know where the receipt is for the waranty. Yes Moog does make some good parts. I belive they have a new line of Moog ball joints and tie rod ends with the designation of M2. They are supposse to be alot beter built then oem. All of the companys that TRW owns build quality products. Many of them build oem componets and so it is easy for them to build a product that is better or equal to oem. Some realy reputable names in the part industry are as follows: TRW, Federal Mogual, Sealed Power,Moog, Fel Pro, Melling, Crowler, MSD, ARP, Mildon, Luanati, Timken, Downey, B&M, JE,AC Delco,Bosch.....These are just the ones that jump out off the top of my head as makeing great parts and most of them can be had at any local parts store.

Message: you got that a little backwards, federal mogual is the parent company that owns trw and all the rest. 90% of all auto parts are either owned by the company Federal Mogual or Dana Corp.
and go with moog and you wont be sorry, ball joints are a pain in the ass to change so why use a cheap lifetime part and replace them often when you can use a moog and forget it.

Message: I never said use a cheap lifetime garanty part. I am pretty sure that Napa and Car Quest have some decent parts on their shelves. There are only so many company that make quality parts. The are only two parts stores that have ever tried to pedal low quality parts on me. Auto Zone tried to sell me some low quality made in China wheel bearing instead of Timken and Advanced Auto parts tried to sell me detroit gaskets instead of felpro.

Message: I have a question concerning ball joints. I recently purchased a used 00 QC 4X4 3.9. I see most references to ball joints involves 97-99 Dakotas. Is it safe to assume that the ball joint problem was worked out by 2000. I just bought this truck a few weeks ago and we have 8 inches of snow on the ground so its kinda hard to crawl underneath and do some inspections of my own. So far pretty happy with truck but i definitely would order this with the 4.7 or 5.2. The 3.9 just seems to underpowered for this sized vehicle, plus it gets almost the same mileage as the 4.7. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Message: 4x4Tony are you sure about the dealerships changing them? Are they doing a recall or just if you bought the vehicle at your local dealer. My truck came from IL and I'm not taking it all the way back up there to get the ball joints replaced.

Message: Fabiola, what's a rotula? If you tell these guys what that is in english, they'll tell you what its made of. They seem to know quite a bit. If not, take a guess. In my engineering design projects, I've made up lots of imaginary materials.

Message: The ball joints I got from NAPA were the exact same thing as the stockers. No grease fittings or anything.I replaced them 4 months ago and yesterday I heard popping coming from the front end.Looks like I'll have to change them again.I will definately get the Moog's this time!
