Message: does anyone know the part number for the K&N drop in filter for my truck. The dumb ass at Pep Boy's tells me there's no listing. This I don't believe. Oh .... and is there any member discounts around for this filter?
I know, but I'm too lazy to call for the number.

Message: Why do you want a standard drop in filter? If you are going to go with an upgrade K&N, might as well figure a way to customize a coneshaped filter that will suck in tons more air. You can do this project at home, using your own materials, rather than spending the big bucks for a "Generation II" filter system that they manufacture.

Message: I agree. Drop ins are really a waste of money if you're looking for a performance advantage, unless your only goal is to never replace your air filter without any real concerns in the performance dept. I only truly experienced an increase in performance when I got the K&N Gen II FIPK.

Message: The answer to your question is: 33-2175
This is from the K&N website at: http://www.knfilters.com/appinq.htm
BTW, I bought the drop in filter for my 1999 Dakota, not necessarily for the performance increase, but because it is a superior filter to the regular paper filters.
I got mine online for $40 at www.truckaddons.com for $40 (however since yours has a different part number than mine 33-2084, your price might be different)

Message: BigG,
I just put in the volant air intake system. I had to put some muscle into bending the brackets a little to make the system fit securely. Had a alittle problem attaching the cone filter with the heat shield (squeezed it in). The heat shield barely fit with this setup. I even contacted Volant for advice and they said that I should use both mounting brackets so the airhat would be seating flush. I hadn't driven my truck around so I haven't noticed any power increase with my dyno butt yet. Good thing about the Volant system is that they accommodated the cruise control unit. Volant said they were seeking CARB certification (a good thing). I had the K&N drop in. I never really noticed any power gains but maybe a slight increase in MPG. Can't really tell because I dropped in the K&N filter very early, but K&N drop in is a much better filter than paper. Just my 2 cents.
