Ok, so I put a frickin K&N fpik on my truck, and the cone filter CAME OFF OF THE ARM TO THE AIR HAT - and of course I put like 2k miles on the truck (road trip) including like a full day of off-roading. I can only imagine what has been sucked into my motor...
WHAT DO I DO NOW?

You could change your oil and filter, drive for a week, and then change them again. That should get some of the dirt out of your motor. But driving that long and in those conditions definitely did some damage.

While its still runing go get your engine flushed, your oil and filter changed. And then yeah...pray

My cone filter also slipped off the air tube. You need to clean all of the oil off of the inside of the rubber mounting surface of the filter. Rough up the mounting surface of the plastic air tube with some rough (80 grit) sand paper.
The filter likely came off during the off roading. Hopefully at the very end of the day.
Change your oil and filter. You'll probably be OK. If there is damage, you will know soon.

This is a common complaint about this system. K&N suggest just as Dakaty has posted to hopefully prevent it from happening again.

Ok, so yesterday was NOT a good day. After I posted this message, the harddrive in my 1 month old laptop fried - dead as a doornail. Thankfully, that is a work computer, but I still lost like 150 digital pics from the vacation I menitioned above.
Then, I was bringing the DAK home, and it started making this horrible noise from the left front wheel area. something is seriously screwed up down there too, so I just parked the damn thing where I work, and I will go get it later.
Did I mention it is my birthday?
