That truck took a serious beatin' for seven years and was an absolute blast in the woods. The DAK will get there -- just as soon as I find my work jeans so I can get outta this towel and put that lift kit on. Have a great day.
Now back to the subject at hand -- Amsoil Air Filter (it's right there on the list after Rogaine, a good fad diet, and some new towels). :oP

JES,
I don't understand why my email was returned as undeliverable? I know that I am fighting OLM ( my service provider ) because they tried to "slam" me into a higher annual contract that was 4 times the cost of my contract for 2002, but that should not affect my email ... and I think that I resolved the issue with OLM as of yesterday.
Regarding the FlowzAir filter, it is currently only available for the 2003 model Dodge Dakota. Amsoil is adding additional makes and models on a weekly basis and hopefully they will be available for your year model soon. I would suggest that you go with the OEM in the interim. (Off the record) ... I am not a big fan of K&N ... my friends at the garage laugh and say that the K&N is 1 million holes traveling at 70 MPH. They don't think that the K&N filters very well ... and I have seen controlled lab tests that back up their comments. Sorry ... but sometimes the truth hurts.
Keep watching the board. I'll try to keep everyone posted as to availability.

Message: Isn't the airbox on the 03 and 02 the same? And, as far as the K&N not filtering well ... it definitely filters better than a non-existent Amsoil filter, right? :oP All in jest ... can't find the sarcasm button. I'll wait it out til the FlowzAir for the 02 is released; I'll just get a cheapo Fram in the meantime. Is there some way you can put me on a notification list or something for when the filter is released, so as I don't have to keep buggin ya? If not, I'll just keep an eye out for this thread to see if you've updated.
P.S. -- Not gonna touch that one .... subject matter suited for a different forum ... :o) Let's just say, I really don't mind being a short, fat, bald guy.
Thanks Steve.

I don't know ... one would assume so, ...
... the 2002 and 2003 use the same 2-stage air filter.
To clarify my earlier comments regarding K&N.
It was not meant to discredit ... but if you are off-roading, or living/driving in a dry and dusty environment ... get an oil analysis to make sure that the silicon levels aren't too high. I've seen dozens of oil analysis' where guys have used K&N and the levels were high. Silicon is sand ... and we all know what sandpaper or sandblasting does to metal surfaces.

Maybe I could order the Filter for the 03, and let you know if it works on the 02. If it doesn't, no love lost, I'll just return it and wait for the 02-specific filter to come out. Let me know if this would work for you.
I have gotten some good feedback from some friends that have done the oil anlysis thing when using a K&N versus the stock filter. I didn't see the specific numbers, but based on their interpretation, I don't think I'd ever get a K&N. I think I may do this same type of experiment with the Amsoil filter versus the Stock Filter. If, for no other reason, to get experience in this kind of testing.
Let me know what you think about giving the 03 filter a try on my 02. Or, if you could find out from the corporate fellas as to whether or not the 03 will work on the 02.
Thanks much Steve.

Jes,
I have a call into Amsoil but have not heard back.
You can do one of three things.
1) Wait for me to get an absolute answer.
2) Order for your 2002. If is is not the NEW Amsoil FlowzAir, I will reimburse your shipping and handling charges (both ways) for you to return it. Net cost to you will be ZERO (except time).
3) Order for a 2003 - which is the same as the 2002, insuring that you will receive the NEW FlowzAir Filter.
Thanks!

JES,
Unfortunately, the NEW Amsoil FlowzAir Filter is not in the catalog yet due to the fact Amsoil is working thru it's old inventory.
Send me an Email with your contact phone # and the best time to call and I will make certain that you are taken care of.
Amsoil is manufacturing and making available Amsoil FlowzAir air filters for the most popular first, Ford, GM and Dodge Trucks. Amsoil Product Code TS-189 is out for the 2003 Dodge trucks and it replaces Mopar #53032700AA.
Send the email to: sroark@american-synthetic-oil.com

The Amsoil FlowzAir is the replacement line for ALL of the Amsoil air filter line --- and unfortunately Amsoil has decided to use the same product codes. A consumer currently orders the old design and is suprised when they receive the new design --- for some makes and models.
I am assuming Amsoil will continue with this until the warehouses inventories (of the old 2-stage filters) is nearly depleted, before they make a 100% switch.
The FlowzAir Filters are not being promoted or advertised on the website - however they were in an Amsoil catalog at the end of 2003 - because they are not available across the board. Amsoil Flowzair filters will eventually be the only filters offered by Amsoil.

Here is a quote from a satisfied Amsoil FlowzAir Customer:
"I had two of the older versions, one in my 2001 GMC was a real tight fit to get in. Your hands got dirty and its was messy to install. I put in the new TS123 last week and it just dropped in. The fit was perfect. The blue EVA seal takes the place of the form fit seal. It makes installing them a snap. The other went into my 2002 Trans Am and was the same, perfect fit an easy to install. They also come packaged in a better plastic bag so no oil can possible leak out prior to opening."

AMSOIL High Tack Foam Filter Oil
... NOW Available in a NEW and Convenient Aerosol Spray
AMSOIL Foam Filter Oil has long provided users of AMSOIL air filters with a high level of air flow and superior particle removal. Now, five years of research, testing and development have yielded a NEW AND IMPROVED Foam Filter Oil formulation.
_____ _____
New AMSOIL High Tack Foam Filter Oil (Product Code: AFO)
A special blend of synthetic polymers that allows maximum air flow and increased particle removing efficiency and capacity.
High Tack Foam Filter Oil
-- stays in place throughout service life
-- resists washout from carburetor fogging
-- will NOT plug foam filter cells
-- new red color helps ensure even oil coverage across the entire filter.
AMSOIL High Tack Foam Filter Oil was tested with AMSOIL 2-Stage Foam Filter media under the SAE J726 test methodology, yielding an efficiency rating of 99.5 percent.
High particle removing efficiency is critical in preventing engine wear, keeping equipment running at peak efficiency and improving fuel efficiency.
AMSOIL High Tack Foam Filter Oil is available in its traditional form and a NEW and convenient aerosol spray. Because it offers users quick and convenient application, the new spray formulation is a boon for power sports enthusiasts.
Applying High Tack Foam Filter Oil
For best performance, apply a generous amount of High Tack Foam Filter Oil and work it into the foam media. Squeeze out excess oil, leaving a uniformly oiled filter.
A properly oiled filter will feel oily or tacky to the touch on both the outer and inner surfaces, but should not be dripping oil.
When reinstalling the air filter, apply a thin film of AMSOIL Multi-Purpose Grease on the foam base to insure a leak free seal between the filter and housing.
