Subject: Chevy Trail Blazer Inline 6; 275 hp? IP: Logged
Message: WTF,
I fellow fireman, (our town is volunteer), told me he just got a now trailblazer, Inline 6, with 275hp! I looked it on Edmunds.com, thinking surely he couldn't be right, and sure enough, with 275 ft/lbs. also! with a 4.2L inline six.
And my SOHC, semi-hemi, 4.7L v8, only has 235 factory! I'm probably making close to that now, but his is stock!

Message: GM is winning the engine war big time. I don't know if you're familiar with the AMC straight 6 (originally a Hudson) that still powers the Jeep TJ in it's current 4.0 MPFI incarnation. It makes pretty good torque numbers out of the box. That's what you need for towing and trail riding.
Inline 6's make great torque. Look at any older Bimmer or Jag.

Message: Yes Chevorlet is winning the HP race due to a simple fact thatthey hired a premier engine builder KNOW AS HONDA They developed the heads for the new Vortec Engines and also the Variable Valve Timing on the 4.2l Inline Six. Now all we need is for Mercedes to kick down some Technology and Its going to fun the New Magnum has a Mercedes 5-speed Auto and we should get the 6-Speed Autos since Mercedes has just introduced the 7-speed Auto for all Cars in their Line up.Give it some time their are some pretty interesting things in the DODGE pipeline.Bob Lutz knows this and he probally shaking in his chair trying to come up with fresh new Ideas for Chevorlet. I like that New STS Cadillac thats due out in about a Month but the NORTHSTAR is an Oil leaking pig.

Message: Don't put too much stock in that 275 number. Also check the torque output and the 0-60 and 1/4 times. You'll note that they may have better HP numbers, but they don't put it to the ground that much better.
The HP number though is what sells cars anymore. Not too many people know enough to look to the other numbers to put together a more complete picture.
Take the man down the street. I'd be willing to bet that that 4.7/5-speed of yours at least stays with him, if not whups up on him.

Message: i just recently went to a "autoshow in motion" they give you the keys to a wide variety of cars/trucks and let you run them around a test course.
the trailblazer and envoy SUCKS ASS! no power, interior feels WAY too cheap, and there was so much body roll, it almsot made me sea sick.
what realy suprised me was the toyota highlander. way better ride than expected, and it has the power to blow the chevy in the weeds!

Message: Lurkin,
yea, maybe so. Maybe I'll try and run in at a safe area. Still 275 max hp and max torque!
